It is a different heat, isn't it Jan? I tolerate the heat on holiday (Greece, Canaries) so much better than here! We were in Lanzarote in August in 2010, it was around 40° and I was ok in that :? Dry heat!

All combustables, bbq's etc are banned in rural areas this time of year. The fine is massive too

They should introduce a fine here too. It might go some way to covering the cost of the fire service.

And there should be a fine just for the amount of litter left behind  Last Bank Hol the Forestry Commission posted a photo on Facebook of the clean up they did early on the Monday morning, just in a small area by one of the visitor centres, and they'd filled three of their pick up trucks and emptied each one twice by 9.30am. They said that they'd have to do the same the following morning. We notice it on the common and woods behind us too after the weekend. Just this morning I came across an open can of sweet corn of all things, just left there, so I've stood on it and crushed it down because the potential was there for an animal to get it's head stuck or get cut off the sharp edge.

We're so fortunate to live in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty here yet many people who use it show it very little respect.

Edit, found the pic of the trucks filled with rubbish which were all emptied twice

Feeling pretty disgusted at the moment

I've just read, from the lady who is the main organiser for the aid for the bombeiros, that they need either clean uniforms or some form of clean clothes :? They have been wearing the same uniform all week :o :o So, very smell, wet, from all the water and I would imagine, probably able to stand up on their own.

This government is flamin' useless
