A brand new "anything" on a 14 yr-old car is a waste of money, especially a £540 "anything". It will outlast the car by decades. I would be reluctant to top up with new windscreen wash.
So it's down the scrappies for a £35 job, a bit of a de-grease and t' job's a good 'un.
Yep they are looking at trying to get a second hand part. If they can't find one the garage have suggested welding the old driveshaft. I dont know if I'm too keen on that idea though. It would need to be welded and balanced and I could see the price starting to creep up again. Plus the specoalist welder couldn't do the job for a week and that's no good to me.
