What has happened to the hot spell?

Postby Workingman » 26 Aug 2018, 15:29

The one that was supposed to last into October and give us an Indian summer. I knew we were in trouble once that was announced. Since then it has beeen pretty grotty.

I got up just after 8 and it has been raining without a pause and those in the flat below have put their heating on. My clock thermometer says 18.2ºC, but I am resisting.

According to the forecast next week will be a mix of sun and showers, but we could hit the dizzy heights of 17ºC.

Early Autumn I reckon Frank :? The leaves are changing here, thanks partly to the dry summer, and the mornings and evenings have that feel to them! We did get plenty of Summer this year, to be fair ;)

I'm glad it's gone. The hot weather does not suit me, or my wife.

Incessant and torrential rain from late morning today - I went down to Dorchester about 1:00, and was going to use the "back roads", but the amount of standing water encountered just getting out of Gillingham was so great that I changed tack and went the long way round using the A roads.

And it was cold enough for us to give the central heating a quick hour's blast this evening ….

I don't know where it's gone but I wish it would come back. I've been frozen daft today.
Os, I blush to admit it but we've given the central heating a quick blast too!

We put the central heating on yesterday. Don't know what the temperature was but I had a jumper on and I was still cold.
It has been raining. Have been for the paper and petrol. Some of the pumps are not working at the garage I use. Have been told they are waiting for a sensor to be fitted. Will require three different engineers to fit and check it.
Just pootling today inside. Waiting to finish painting the fence. Only two more panels tp do.
Have a good day everybody.

I think we're all feeling it more, after the hot spell! I was frozen on Sunday, but it was almost 60°F according to the app on my phone
