Still get gobsmacked

Postby JanB » 20 Sep 2018, 18:23

after all these years by Grumpy

We've been talking for a week or about going out for his birthday and where. Talked about the different restaurants, Adega Monte Velho (expensive but gert lush black pork tenderloin) The Palma, new owners, chuck everything on the plate and rubbish waiting staff although we've been told he was very good in his old restaurant, but that was about 4 times smaller  ) the Nova Coimbra, full of English and not cheap or the Casa do Alentejo, in Castro Verde.

He said that as it's our 13th year anniversary next week, we'll go to the Palma, give it another go.

And the week after, for his birthday, we'll go to Casa do Alentejo - where we took Ria and as all had the most fantastic food.

As an aside, I'm really pleased that Ria had proper Alentejo food for her visit. Favas one night, pork and clams the next, tuna salad, okay, more Algarve, and then a frango caldeirara for her last night.

He's not known for spending money either  :cute:

I should add, we've spent virtually all of the profit from our old house, so will be living on small rations until I get my pension (another 4 years :cute: :cute: ) - so no more living it up
