I recall #1 son having a rant. "You asked us to deal with knife crime. We analysed the situation and determined that 90% of all knife crime was perpetrated by black gang members. We stop and searched the 90% demographics. You called us racists! You are on your own now!"
Why even bother calling the police if this is the answer. The judge might as well just have said "carry on we don't care". This didn't teach respect. It just taught the youth that it was OK to do so long as you can either not be caught or you can talk your way out of it.
And this is why we have a knife crime epidemic in London!

You can go on WhatsATwitFace and call someone a feminist lesbian or a gay bum boy and you will be arrested for a "hate" crime, charged and found guilty - obviously - and fined or locked up.
Wander round with a Zombie knife - a criminal offence. Causes damage to property, the car - a criminal offence. Be convicted at trial of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm - a very serious criminal offence. And for all of that he has to sit at home with mum watching TV or playing on his X-Box.
There has to be some way to appeal his sentence as being too lenient otherwise it is game over for taking back the streets.

There is an elephant in the news that the tv people aren't mentioning.
Ban guns! And nothing bad will ever happen again. Apart from the fact that by definition, criminals don't obey the law and get their hands on them anyway. Low level postcode gangs use knives. So now we get...

In the 1960's you could get a shotgun licence from the post office for ten bob. You could if you wished (most people didn't) own a pistol or semi automatic centre rifle, both of which are now effectively banned.
We had no post code gangs and no massacres then. Something in society has changed for the worse.

The truth is now out.
He was given two years for the GBH and a year each for the other charges. They were to be served concurrently, which actually means some of the time to be served never existed. The prison sentences were suspended for two years.
The curfew and community order are immediate.
The leniency of the sentencing has been referred to the Attorney General.
