I paid £1.52.9 at Scotch Corner services for Diesel yesterday. The weekend before last I saw €1.729 on the Autoroute.... Although locally it is around €1.39 to €1.49.
After the last crash in prices where the price of a barrel of oil dropped by 2/3 but fuel prices dropped by less than 1/3 I said that within 20 years it would be €2 per litre as Oil prices rose again. Because how could they afford not to when they had baked in so much tax and profits when oil was cheap?
We are well on the way with that journey and oil is heading for $100 per barrel again.
All we need is an EV with a 600 mile range that can charge 90% in 30 minutes and a charging network. Manufactured in volume. Then there will be lots of highly interesting fallout. Like grids going down, local substations being overwhelmed, taxes falling through the floor and ordinary homeowners having to pick up the tab.
Aint life going to be fun
