The Brexit good news.

Postby Workingman » 07 Dec 2018, 19:08

Yes folks, there is some.

Both the BBC and ITV have announced that they will not be holding leaders' TV debates.

Actually, anything that keeps May and Corbyn off our TV and radio and out of the papers has to be a good thing. Image

You are so right Frank.

May would put half the country to sleep and Corbyn would put the other half to sleep. Death by boredom.

For me it is an indication of just how deep the bias goes on Brexit.

Neither ITV, nor BBC, want our politicians on TV debating the politicians positions on Brexit. I think they both believe that having a remainer who is delivering Brexit arguing with a leaver who can't say so, would damage the attempt to stop Brexit.

It is not often that ITV and the BBC work together on a common goal, but this is one instance.

It's amazing really. The only things the politicians talk about is the great God of the economy. Even in the last two years I've heard virtually no debate on the political aspect of the EU, or the possible future of the EU. Which to me and to others is the sticking point with the EU.
But no mention of it at all, none.

They can't mention it cromwell, they would have to tell the truth and even soft remainders do not like the stark realities of the truth.

What? We Remainers are more than happy with the truth. We are happy with the EU as it is whilst acknowledging that lots of things could be improved. We are happy with the EU moving forward though we would like to see its expansion come to an end once the Balkan countries that wish to join have done so - Belarus, Ukraine and Turkey can have good trading links, but no entry. And we are more than happy with deeper integration on any number of fronts. Inside we can affect things, outside we cannot and that is a true truth.

It is Brexiters who give the truth a body swerve at every opportunity, who believed the lies and falsehoods and who doggedly cling to the mermaids, unicorns, sunny uplands fantasies.

Really? The fact that the UK would have to accept Schengen, that the UK would have to accept the Euro, that the "ever closer union" means that the core goal of the EU is to become a superstate and that the so called "member states" would have to lose country status, embassies around the world, foreign policy, control of their armies.

Even better that, in time, both France and the UK will have to lose their seats on the UN security council, to be replaced with one EU seat.

Let's tell the truth, why don't we.

Or NOT.

Don't tell me that Remainers have the truth on their side and Brexiteers are all a bunch of dreamers who can't stand the truth. It is the Remainers who are denying the truth every single day but because the press won't tear into the whole EU myth in the way they tear into everything else, the remainers sit there, quietly sure they know what is going on.

We have a plaque on the wall of one of our outbuildings. The rough translation, from French, is "don't dream your life away, live your dreams".

I know who is dreaming their life away.

Ha! So we can revoke A50 any time we want... it is an option. The CJEU judges have ruled that this can be done without altering the terms of the UK's membership of the EU.

If we revoke A50 and stay in we get to keep the status quo - rebate, opt-outs, veto, no Schengen and no €. However, we can join Schengen and the € at any time, if we so wish, and some of us would not bat an eyelid if those things were to happen.

As for the EU superstate, that is another Brexiter myth they keep frightening themselves with. Junker has said the he is 'totally against' it and he also noted that there are a number of countries in the EU, all with vetoes, who are also against is. It is a non-starter. So, the UK and France will not lose their seats on the UN Security Council and the EU will keep its observer status in the UN unless the UN decides to remove it or the EU decides to pull out.

Not quite WM. They were very specific. The UK can rescind A50, only after a vote of Parliament to do so, Only within the original 2 years or any extended period.

It still requires 1 request to extend and 27 approvals.

So the PM must revoke before 29th March and only with a full vote of Parliament behind it.

As for staying out of the € Forever? Well you can believe anything you want, but blindly ignoring the fact that the EU gets what it wants by simply waiting and passing reams and reams of laws to change the perceptions of EU citizens.

You talk about the Veto, but the top agenda item on every single treaty change is veto removal.

Just a few weeks ago a senior EU official, on EU state creation, replied "not yet". Of course it is not yet, it will take another generation (25 years), of UK children to become completely clueless about what the UK is. At least 2 more in Poland and Hungary.

Celebrate if you want, but the only people who can gain from today's decision are people like me who fully take advantage of the EU for their own ends.

The unicorns are with the remainders today.
