I do really enjoy putting the tree up every year but with the revelation of two part lights this year it was soooo much easier.
An extra surprise was Mr Robin....Don and I bought our first tree together in London 1989 from Argos near the Barbican (yes, really

) and it came with various decorations (many of which we still have to this day) and a robin.
Now, robins being my favourite feathered friend, I fell in love with it and it has always taken pride of place on the tree. It was super cute and when you pressed its underbelly it tweeted.
Cue almost 3 decades of 3 boys ( and their mama) of pressing said underbelly, imagine our horror about 5 years ago when Mr Robin was rendered mute!
He still took pride of place on the tree...albeit a silent presence.
But wait...as I was decorating the tree Sunday just gone, hubster took Mr Robin to the hospital (man cave

) found a heart transplant (new battery

) and my wonderful little birdy can now tweet whenever someone cares to press his underbelly.
The twins are coming over Christmas Eve....they will laugh their socks off at all this.
(But love it too....)
Aren't family traditions lovely....
