When to start making noise

I was at Karl and Nadine last night for a BBQ and we were talking about plans for today. I said that I'd like to mow the lawns before meeting up but I'd have to wait until 10 or 11am and they were quite surprised at that. Where they live it seems quite acceptable to be mowing the lawn at 8am on a Sunday which I found quite surprising - so we looked up the noise bylaw for their area just as a matter of interest.

So I was wondering what do you do? Admittedly I suspect most of you get to mow during the week and don't have to wait for weekends but if you did have to do anything that may be loud over a weekend; do you wait until a decent'ish hour or do you crack on when ready. And if your neighbour started mowing at 8am on a Sunday; would you object? I know my neighbours are up and about at that time so I wouldn't be waking them but still...

I would wait until about 8.30 Ria.

But as we're in a different country, with different temperatures, can't really help.

The law here is from 8 in the morning until 8 at night.

But try telling that to the idiot next door who started strimming at 8.45pm

I think 8am is early, for a Sunday, and we wouldn't do something noisy that early. Ironically, one of our neighbours is the only person here who has ever complained about our dogs barking (we don't let them bark, we stop them asap) but he's had building work starting at 8am, on Sundays and Bank Holidays Apparently noise is only a nuisance when it's other people, not them

They bought the lovely 5-bed version of ours, that backs on to us, which was in impeccable condition and have knocked hell out of it - built a conservatory, adapted the garage, new kitchen, and all done at whatever time it suited them

Around here I don't think many are up at 8am on a Sunday, so the problem doesn't arise!
8.30am or 9,00am should be fine with most people I think.

Country area here. Nobody would object or ever bother if you started as early as 8:00 round here, including Sundays - in fact I think the Council start mowing weekdays around 9:00.

The worst noise-makers are the wood-chippers, though.

Well now, 08:12 is far too early to be posting on here with awkward questions; IMHO.

The grounds are kept by contractors who only work weekdays, 09:00 ish, so we do not have that noise problem. When the weather is fine the young ones can be out and about just after breakfast, but nobody cares about that sort of noise.

I think 09:00 to 20:00 are fair game for weekends unless the gazebos are up, the BBQs are out and we are having a bit of a get-together. They can go on just a tiny, weeny bit longer.: hic.

I wouldn't mow that early on the weekend, I wait until after 10 then.

The people opposite us run a business from home, they print those inspirational quote wall stickers, and have a private company empty their 'trade' bin every week and this company come anytime between 5.30am and 7am. It's not just the noise of the bin lorry driving onto the close but they then reverse off so there's the warning beep beep beep as they do so.

There're also the dogs at the drug dealer's house (no idea if he really is one but...). I've seen the woman walking a Spaniel a year or so back but there are two dogs barking in their garden and they don't have the bark of a Spaniel. They're obviously guard dogs and they bark like crazy when people are near the house and their vocal chords get a lot of exercise as the house backs onto the common and has a path running behind it.
