With mugs willing to line up and pay over-the-odds prices in their "restaurants" they don't have to justify anything.

Well yes, but sometimes we don't have a choice ... all my friends and I live quite a distance apart, but most of us work in London. So meeting up before heading separate ways home is the only way we can see each other. And that usually will involve a meal and a drink / coffee etc. As it is I tend to chose cheap places or places that have 2 for 1 offers; and even then it's still expensive. London just is stupid overpriced

Point taken, Ria, but I was thinking more of the McNanimo's Fried Hut Express King type places. ;)

They really do have some front in charging you half your mortgage for 'street' food. "Restaurants" they certainly ain't.

Forgot to say that we went to see Ed Byrne last Wednesday at the theatre in Stafford.
I'd heard of him but hadn't ever seen him on anything but John said he was quite funny and we were offered tickets by our friends who are police officers and bought them before knowing their shifts and then couldn't make it.

He was flippin' hilarious, as was the comedian who opened the show. I'd definitely go to see both again

I've just been sorting out one of the understairs cupboards and found a bottle of wine. It said Chardonnay 2012 on the label. No idea how why it's there, I normally pass bottles of wine onto people if we get it as a present.
I've tipped it down the sink and now every time I run the tap I get hit by the smell of wine :?

I would’ve done but I’m not sure if it’d still be okay to drink or if it’d taste okay
