It was the same at Jessops in town, when I renewed my passport in the summer. Pre-approved photo, given a code to enter on the passport website. Really quick and easy :)

It was two years ago... to be able to visit our Potuguese friends. ;) :) :)

My old passport had run out more than ten years before so it was a new application, not a renewal. I think that at the time the Passport Office was changing procedures and was in a bit of a meltdown. The advice was to allow a minimum of six weeks or more for the process to complete.

Performed the Annual Ritual today of buying (at the usual exorbitant price) the Christmas Edition of the Radio Times so we can see, yet again, that there's absolutely nothing worth watching on the box over the festive period!

Ossie, try http://www.tvguide.co.uk it's free (well I am a Yorkshireman) and is customisable for your region / preferences. :D

I currently have it set for 32 Freeview channels - all with nothing worth watching. :( The other 106 available here are even worse! :o

We always used to buy it - again, no idea why

But at the moment, we can only get BBC1, 2 and 4, ITV, Channel 4, but with a zillion Portuguese programmes.

Good job I went to the library this week 8-)

Loud noises outdoors just now, so being nosey, I opened the front door and was promptly lit up by a searchlight!

The Air Ambulance has just clattered low over the house and landed a couple of hundred yards away at the entrance to the country park, and an ordinary ambulance has gone into one of the neighboring cul-de-sacs. Thoughts for all the folks involved ...

Tiled floor. Kitchen. Making coffee. Holding a bottle of nail polish. Dropped the bottle.

Was waiting for the splat and crack of a tile or the bottle at the very least. :o

Nothing. Nada.

A big sigh of relief.

Been sat outside for the last hour or so, drinking (cold) beer, watching the rain. 8-)

Ossie, hope all was OK in the end? :(

Jan, we used to do that when we were living in SA. Where we lived (on the East coast), we had summer rains (so really warm and humid) and we would sit on the veranda listing to and watching the storm move in, head over us and up towards the Berg (mountains) and then back over us and back out to see. The lightning used to be amazing, albeit very scary at times when we had the loud electrical storms. The best is then the smell of the damp earth and the sound of the crickets and birds as they all started up again.... amazing
