Interesting that these medical staff are using the same techniques we are being told to use.

A non symptomatic infectious person is no less infective than a symptomatic person apart from the coughing and sneezing, which is not really seen as symptomatic anyway.

Yes! The doctors, nurses and other health carers are doing pretty much what we are being told to do 24/7 and even though they are at 'ground zero' their rates of infections and deaths are not that much worse than the infected population as a whole.

Covid-19 is dangerous, no doubt about that, but it is not going to wipe us out.

I never said it was going to wipe us out. In fact flu is a bigger problem overall.

But there is a trend now. With the Diamond Princess getting more 68 more infections and two doctors IN Japan in the hospital treating the infected from the ship.

It is pretty clear that only treating the outbreak like ebola is going to stop the infection and that current precautions are nowhere near to stron enough in the medical profession.

It would appear that fairly high % of the people that get close to one of the infected, also become infected. The second doctor in Japan and his wife went to a party whilst infected.

With the number of cases growing in Japan, most with no history of having travelled abroad, it is spreading like flu.

The US is sending a plane to get its citizens off the Diamond Princess. This means they believe that if they don't the chances that everyone becomes infected is high.

That ship won't be operational until it is clear but with the infection rate that could be 6 months or when everyone has beee infected and removed.

Another 88 on the Diamond Princess yesterday. They are posting it as a separate line now. It is 542 and the second largest infection site after China. It started with one infected person.

Another 14 day curfew is in place for those who were sharing with the new batch that were infected.

At some point they have to come to the conclusion that the staff are spreading it. They need to empty the ship and disinfect it.

So you take over three thousand people of unknown status wrt the virus from a controlled quarantine environment ... and then what?

Send them home to points north, south east and west to mix with family and friends, but armed with an information sheet on what to do if they get the sniffles? Or maybe re-quarantine them in a few prefabricated wards with the minimum of facilities when they were on a luxury liner with everything they needed?

They are being exceptionally well looked after, given the circumstances. They are not being harmed, but then neither are they able harm others.

The US passengers are being moved to a quaranteen environment in the US. Where the environment will start out clean and will be staffed with medical professionals.

Even doctors are coming down with this and the staff on the ship are in no way prepared to protect themselves whilst supporting the ship.

It is insane.

It is also insane to put passengers who might potentially, or even do, have the virus in planes with others who are 'clean' and then move them all over the shop.

But then the Japanese medical professional already looking after them are nowhere near as good as those "back home" are they?

Nobody "back home" has been infected caring for the infected. Two in Japan have and hundreds In China have.

This has nothing to do with looking down on other countries, this has to do with facts.
