What a busy day off I've had! Aquafit early doors this morning as it's half term, so out the door at 8.15, class was ace as usual, and then we lingered a longer time over coffee because we were early....left the café about 11 and I popped to Asda for petrol and then on to the Arnison Centre as I needed to go to Wilkos and George. Did that, then this afternoon I have been cleaning the oven - ALL AFTERNOON!!! Coupled with a bit of cleaning in the kitchen and rearranging some chests of drawers in the bedrooms I can safely say I am now knackered and the hot bath I've just got out of was most definitely needed!

It took me so long because I HAD left it too long! (scraping with a actual wallpaper scraper the burnt on stuff off the bottom of the tray.....THAT kind of thing! No wonder my arms kill today!! )

Don't know if you can get it over there, but use Mistolin. Red stuff in a spray bottle.

I occasionally buy those kits where you get a big plastic bag, some cleaning solution, and the shelves go in the bag. They really work, although you have to be careful of fumes. Usually I just scour my shelves with Brillo pads, and try to remember to wipe out the oven interior while it's still warm

It's a pig of a job, isn't it?

I did that with the shelves Kaz, piece of cake - they cleaned up a treat! I DID make the mistake of laying the bag down in the living room, on the carpet. After it had finished doing its stuff, I took it back into the kitchen and noticed the bag had a tiny leak I now have a bald patch of carpet. Sigh.

This was the floor of the oven, or rather the bottom shelf that had the burnt on gunk.

Oh yikes!! Tell you what I've found works on gunk on metal trays - and burnt on saucepans - a paste made of washing powder and a little water, left on for several hours, or preferably overnight xxx
