Iceland initiative

Postby TheOstrich » 16 Mar 2020, 18:59

Just confirmed with them this afternoon that they are rolling out nationally a special slot in each store for OAPs to do their shopping without hassle.
In our store, it's going to be between 9:00 and 11:00 on Wednesdays.
If you or yours are elderly and you have an Iceland nearby, perhaps worth bearing in mind?

Oh no, fossils only hours!

Agatha and Albert blocking the aisle while they discuss whether to get a 32 box or a 48 box of Tetley's tea bags...

"But Albert these work out at 3/59ths of a penny per bag cheaper."
"Yes, but if we get a 48 box we will have some left over when we next shop and that will mean getting a 16 box so overall it will be dearer."
"Oh you are so clever Albert, a 32 box it is."
.
.
.
"Ah, but wait, Albert. If we get a 48 box one shop and then another 48 box the next shop we end up with a tea bag free shop the time after.... and it's a lot cheaper."
"Agatha, you old abacus, you."

And because they are old you just have to stand there an let them get on with it.

Now if they are the young sorts you just bellow "SCUSE ME!" and barge them out the way and get your shopping done and be home. :D

Every silver lining has a cloud. ;)

The manager of our local Iceland decided to open an hour early this Wednesday for OAP's only. She advertised it on all our local village Fb groups, it got so much attention and praise word got round and people were asking if it would be available in all branches. She had to put a message out saying it was just her store, not company policy, apparently head office got so many calls they decided to make it a national thing. All in one day, the power of social media, an example of how well it can work.
