So I turned up at Asda at 7:30 this morning for the oldies and vulnerables hour and as I stood looking at the milk, there were only a few 4 litre bottles of semi-skimmed available, an old girl next to me said. "If I'd known the invite was to turn up to look at empty shelves I'd have turned it down."

It was like the last day of a closing down sale - everything must go - where the only things left were the stuff nobody wanted.

Again, it's all common sense, isn't it Jan.

I like the idea of a "crine of disobedience". Sounds like being made to stand in a line outside the headmaster's study and hearing the sniveling boys before you being soundly beaten with a slipper. Happy schoolday memories!

Yesterday we couldn’t park where we’d usually park on the Chase on a weekday, it’s usually very quiet but it was like a bank holiday there yesterday and we had to find somewhere quieter.

A lot of our winter flowers come in from Africa by plane and from the Netherlands. Soon be a shortage of them too, but that won't be a hardship...

Things are very quiet here in France. Very few people about. I was in Lidl this morning getting a baguette and checking out the deals when I met one of our good French friends. They come for Christmas meal fairly often, so I do mean good friends. But they are both in their 80's. So we had a conversation over the veg aisle at least 2M apart.

I was in 2 chemists getting paracetamol to send home for our daughter and my BIL, everyone on the street was standing 2M apart talking and when it looked like you would come close when entering the shop they moved.

Chemists all have tape on the floor telling you where to stand. Lidl has a sign up at each till saying card payments preferred and every till has a huge sheet of plastic screwed to the till with a hole cut in it for the card reader. The person on the till is totally protected.
At least there are medicines because you can only get what you need for 1-2 days, no more. There is food in the shops, but some things are fairly limited. Even here people rushed out to stock up, leaving produce that takes days/weeks to build back up almost gone from the shelves.

Almost one week into our 14 days. Bets on how much longer it will last??? No takers? Surprise me not.
