For the first time I watched the Prime Minister's briefing. I had to turn it off. Here comes Laura Kuenssberg whose question was "Why aren't you doing this instead of that?" shortly followed by Beth Rigby whose question was "Why aren't you doing this, wouldn't it save more lives?".
Honestly, what a shower our media are. Snidey, sniggery, sneery.
What a bobby's job they have. They have no responsibilty for anything, they just stand on the sidelines and throw stones.
There has been a big debate on whether or not non essential workers should be staying at home.
Well as far as I can make out, being a smart arse on TV news isn't an essential job, so why don't they all go home? And stay there?

What Cromwell and Saundra say match what I was saying as the daily briefing started. The journalist live in an echo chamber and they all take it in turns to ask the same questions day after day. And do we constantly need reporters in empty town and city centres telling us that they are empty, or next to a packed tube or bus telling us that they are rammed?

We've dispensed with a daily paper, simply because it's now page after page of unremitting doom. Even The Times.
We've also dispensed with the BBC News - we just see their headlines after Bargain Hunt and The Chase, then switch off. I fully agree about Kuenssberg et al, I had a belly full of their "attitude" during Brexit, and nothing has changed.
I'm no longer looking at the local FB page, it's just a series of moans and rants.
Ignorance is bliss. I'm a lot happier …. :)

Hi Jo,

He is at least on his way to a larger city for shared fuel cost with an American national. They were supposed to be going all the way to BA but something changed.

At least. He will be 5.5 hours closer.

We had got to the point that it was going to cost circa £1,000 just to drive him to BA. This is marginally better.

The Embassy continues to be excellent shifting documentation as the situation changes.

More work to get him home but it is a step in the right direction and we've managed to get him some cash in hand too.

WM, I did not police that communique, some of it makes sense, I had my doubts over others.

Just one point, living outside the body at a temp, as opposed to living within the body at a temp, is two totally different things.

Almost all flu infections happen in the winter months. There is a good reason for that.

Anyway I subscribe to the, somewhat sarcastic, Army IA (Immediate Action), on any biological agents.

Purse lips to the required pucker, position head in proximity to backside, kiss ass goodbye.

Once having completed the IA, you can then carry on being sensible, doing what needs to be done, staying out of trouble and, generally, looking after said ass. Calm in the certainty that sudden death will not leave you without having said your goodbyes.

Strange breed the Army, but pragmatic all the same.

Do people like to panic, and do others like to feed that panic?

I happen to be an arch cynic and when I see what I think are dubious claims I use a search engine to see what is what from sites such as the WHO, NHS, BBC etc. I didn't need to so in this case as I had already come across the claims. It's is dangerous fake news with just a few kernels of truthoids thrown in to make it look plausible. Try these or, better still, go find your own sources. Business Insider and WHO

BTW there is no such thing as the Royal Brisbane Hospital. There is a car park going by that name but the actual hospital is the Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital. Why car park staff received such malicious info is beyond me.

And how many times does it need saying: Covid-19 is NOT 'flu. Oh, and 80°F (27°C) is 80°F (27°C) whether it is inside a body, outside on a leaf or on the moon, and If 80°F (27°C) is lethal to you (or a virus) as per the post, it is lethal.

So, looking at semantics, if I paraphrase the who article on the similarities and differences.

They are the same in terms of symptoms and how they are transmitted, but differ in who they target, how easily it is transmitted and how many serious cases there are.

There is an argument for saying it is a more nasty version a flu which doesn't kill so many young people.

As for the rest, I will be more careful to scrutinise anything which comes through the chain from Mrs S.

Over 40k new cases in the world today. The number of countries being infected Continue to climb towards every one.

Countries continue to shut down in the vain hope that it will halt, or even slow down infections in the short term. The long term, of course, is a different matter.
