Dinner tonight

Postby JanB » 26 Apr 2020, 19:03

As I mentioned earlier, it was roast lamb.

I have never, ever seen a cut of lamb like it  :o  Some flat bone and what looks like a leg bone

But bluddy lovely :Hi:

I did a Gary Rhodes recipe, so lots of garlic and rosemary (both from our garden) as well as carrots and green beans - ditto. The potatoes I can't spell without my recipe book, but they were thinly sliced, with more garlic, onion and veg stock.

We got the lamb from a friend, who's uncle is one of the top chefs in the Algarve and he did the butchering too. We've had experience of the Portuguese butchery - ytou really couldn't make it up

Those potatoes could be a style of German bratkartoffeln, which in turn is a variation of French pommes gratin dauphinoise or Boulangeres.

I am not keen on lamb but I don't mind a well done Barnsley (double) chop.

I was lazy and had deep fried southern style chicken thighs and chips.

The remainder of Sergio's pasta.
Chicken, aubergine, peas and chilli. Simple but marvelous.

I'm happy with pasta Crommers, but prefer a cheese, onion and presunto sauce with it.

We can get a stock cube here, just for pasta, which I've tried with it, but miss the meat.

Grumpy hates pasta with vengeance, also rice.

Being an evil person, I make him have chicken, mushroom and white wine risotto once a year and every couple of weeks, rice with the Saturday curry

Jan, I have to agree with Grumpy about rice. I'm not a massive fan of it.
