Whenever I call my mom I tend to do it as a WhatsApp video call - for no other reason that it's nice that we can see each other and show each other things whilst talking... but without fail, the first few seconds of the call I find myself talking to a very close up of her ear And after a prompt or two (or three) she moves the phone from her ear to visual distance
