Cummings has not gone. I definitely think he breached the rules if he travelled when he was ill to another part of the country. I have a strong feeling this will come back to haunt Boris.

Meanwhile the UK is poised to overtake Italy, Spain and Germany for tests. We overtook France Long ago.

Remember that? UK government useless. Can't organise testing, critical to ending lockdown....

So they don't have that hobby horse and are going for Cummings.

News flash. It is unlikely he will go and the government won't suffer that badly for it.

Meanwhile there are demonstrations in Spain. They think their government is the worst in the world for handling it. But, no, we have demonstrations in Italy, clearly their government is the worst. America, clearly Trump is the worst.

Relity. People are dying, virtually nothing can be done about it without violating just about every right we have, just like China did. People are infected and dying, people are not allowed to socialise, therefore the government is the "worst".

Me? I'm going to continue to observe and make the odd observation. But I'm not going to forget the last hobby horse of the press like they want me to.

Those who understand Binary and those who do not.

I think this will affect public confidence in the government Suff. There is nothing worse than feeling like you have been taken for a mug. We all abided by the rules, but Dominic Cummings decided he would do otherwise. However, as we know, the public is very fickle and perhaps it will be soon forgotten and the press will find something else to chew over.

I am struggling to find what the straw men of testing, deaths and demonstrations in other countries have to do with the UK's utterly useless PM's special advisor breaking the rules he laid down for us plebs to follow on home soil.

Oh, hang on, I have it! It is all deflection. One set of rules for the inner circle of the elite and another set for everyone else. Well, fanboys and girls, it will not be forgotten when the time comes. It might die down between now and then, but the reckoning will come one day.

cromwell wrote:If lockdown isn't relaxed shortly it will break down anyway. The death rate is coming down; lockdown has achieved what it was supposed to achieve which is to stop the NHS being overwhelmed.
Most of the Nightingale hospitals weren't used. My daughter spoke to a friend who is a manager in the NHS up here. Some of the ventilators ordered for Leeds were surplus to requirements and were sent to London.
Plus the economy is going off a cliff. If lockdown isn't eased how many people will die because of undiagnosed illnesses, commit suicide after depression etc?
Cummings might go. His approach has earned him enemies in the Civil Service. But imo this is all part of government bashing which is going to go on until the next election.

I agree Crommers.

Whatever the outcome with Cummings I really doubt sensible people are going to suddenly start to ignore the rules en masse. Of course you will always have a small element determined to do whatever they please and damn the rest of us, but overall most people do see the need to be cautious. Certainly as one of the 'oldies with underlying health issues' I won't be rushing out and mixing with lots of others until I'm very sure it's safe to do so.

Exactly Jen, we are not mindless sheep that will do what we like now. We have brains, minds of our own and will be as sensible as we have been, some of us more that others admittedly, but that's human nature.

As my old mum used to say 'so if Dominic jumped off a cliff, would you'

There are an awfull lot of them arriving in our sea front today town is full all ready
All we can do is sit and watch
Nobody is stopping them from coming here because Boris said drive to exercise,
We've all been brainwashed by a government who haven't a clue while Cummings can do what he likes and has the back ing of a pm
Just how long do we have to wait for our government to tell us what to do next time will tell|

There seems to be a rumour going round that there will be a further lifting of restrictions announced soon, to start June 4th, Saundra.

I agree with Jen and MM, I think many of us oldies with underlying health issues will happily continue along just as we are. If the rest of the population want to BBQ on the Beach, that's entirely up to them. If a second spike comes because of their actions, so be it, I'm afraid, and hopefully both they and the Government will learn a hard lesson from it.
