Good Morning Friday

Postby JanB » 05 Jun 2020, 06:06

Morning everyone

A lovely, sunny and fresh morning.

Much better than yesterday, but that was lovely, all that rain :Hi: We have cooler nights, so the mornings are always pleasantly cool 8-) Until July nd August, that is

Washing machine will be on shortly and I'll be able to move some flower bulbs around too. Might even get some weeding done too.

Got to go, Molly is trying to bite me, she wants her morning brush :cute: :cute:

Have a great day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

I also have the deep fat fryer to clean. Hate that job :cute:

One of my first jobs when at school, was in the kitchens of a cottage hospital, after school and week-end work. My job was to clean out their huge deep fat fryers. Hated that blasted things ever since

Morning! :D

Jan, that's a horrible job! When I worked in a Debenhams restaurant, before Becky was born, it was once my job to empty and clean out one of the huge fryers, like the ones they have in chip shops :? It was gross :cute:

The sun is out here, but the forecast is very changeable. Nothing much planned for today, apart from a good walk at some point and doing some washing.

Have a good day everyone :) xxx

Morning everyone

A tad very annoyed with myself this morning - I went to work on Wednesday and drove; but totally forgot to pay the congestion charge. Should have done it by midnight last night - woke up at 2am and remembered! Called first thing this morning to see if I could still pay but no.... not a chance; so now expecting a penalty notice for non payment. I'm so annoyed at my own bl**dy stupidity.

Oh well, it is what it is... and I will get over myself in due course but just wish I'd sometimes be more organised. But now set up auto pay so it won't happen again.

But for better news - my kitchen worktop was delivered this morning so now ready to get going. I'll be knocking walls out today and tomorrow and start ripping up the flooring as much as I can. Can't wait for it all to be done!

Jan, not sure how they work but what about getting an air frier; much easier to clean

Have a lovely day all x

Soon after lockdown started wewent to our local Tesco and parked in one of the disabled bays as we have a disabled badge which we got afer mrs.e broke her hip last year. She cannot walk very far and still needs a walking stick.
Forgot to put the official pass in the front window.
When we came out there was a notice on the windscreen to say we had been fined for not displaying the pass. It was issued by a national company.
It cost £20.00 as we paid immediately. Otherwise it was £70.00 if paid within 14 days and then started to increase rapidly.
They do tis as people park on this car park and then walk into town.
We now go to Morrison's. It is a longer car ride but there are items which we like.

Good morning - cold, breezy, a lot of cloud but little chance of any (much-needed) rain, I gather.

Oh tough luck, Meriad. :| A double whammy in that you were out of routine, and the congestion charges have only recently been brought back in ....

Another fun day today. The painter arrives at 09:00 and we hope she will manage to complete one room so we can shift furniture around again this weekend,

And the plumber arrives at 09:30 because we must the flush mechanism on the loo yesterday .....

Self-isolation totally out of the window now.

I hope you have an incident-free day, all!

What frustrates me is that we're asked to not use public transport if at all possible so I didn't..... Given current times, they should allow a week for paying the charge; or impose say a £20 fine - but apparently I'm expecting one in the region of £160! I obviously will pay the fine when I get it so I only have to pay half of that - but that's a bucket load of money and I will email Sadiq Khan (not that that will get me anywhere ;-) but at least I'll feel I've tried something

Good morning all. We have had overnight rain again which is nice.
I need to go to the post office to collect a parcel and get a paper and that's about it. Suits me as I am feeling a bit tired today. We had Eliza yesterday.
MrsC to her dad's. We have identified a good care home but they aren't taking people atm. They also said that other homes shouldn't be taking people, but are. He really needs to be in one asap as well. He has started wandering around outside now. The neighbours are good but you still worry.
Similarly David down the road was looking in everyone's bins again on Wednesday. There's something not right there. I'll ask Steve next door next time I see him; he spoke to David on Wednesday evening.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all, it’s raining here and is quite cool. It’s hard to believe it was 25c just three days ago!

It’s John’s day off today, not sure what we’ll be doing but the elusive fence paint, which I’d been searching for for weeks and that me and Joe went to Stafford to buy on Monday when Screwfix finally had stock, won’t be getting used. That was to be today’s job  He said he quite enjoyed going into the office yesterday. There were only three of them in, just him, another manager and their boss, Tom who was talking about holidays and how he wants to get everyone to take two weeks before returning from furlough. Seeing as John hasn’t been furloughed and has worked straight though (only Tom, John and the other manager have been working) he’ll pay him for any unused holiday at the end of the year which would be nice.

I spent much of yesterday looking for a new dishwasher and reading reviews. Our current one is still working but the front panel, which you have to pull on to open, has cracked and you have to be careful not to break it off completely. Can’t grumble though as we got it when we moved here, in January 2011, and it’s been used daily with no problems. In the end, after reading review after review, I decided to get an updated model of the one we have  It won’t be here until later in the month though.

Ria, you’ll have to post some pictures when you’re done! That’s awful about the fine though, it all seems so unfair when you’ve made the effort not to use public transport.

Have a good day all x

Oh crikey Ria, that's such rotten luck :( Especially as you were trying to be "good" and avoid public transport

For you too Cruiser :(

Ossie, hope that all goes well xx

((((Crommers)))) xx

Jo, just don't buy a Kenwood one, ours has been nothing but hassle. It's awkward to load, and the tablet door sticks and often doesn't release :cute: That will be nice if John gets some extra paid holiday 8-) :)
