Good Morning Friday

Postby JanB » 14 Aug 2020, 07:00

Morning everyone

Little cloudy this morning but another warm ish day.

I'll be shifting more gravel this morning - it's like having a roundabout on the drive and I can't use all of the washing line either  I'll make a pile for later use, by the side of the workshop and then sprinkle the rest around on the paths.

Then I'll do some of the cleaning. I've decided not to attack it all in one day, but to do some one day and the floors another. Much easier.

Stir fry for dinner.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning Jan, morning all

a grey and damp day here, but still quite warm... Although saying that I'm wearing full length vs crop leggings and a 3/4 sleeve top vs the usual as little as possible :D

I harvested quite a bit of the beetroot yesterday before the rain started so today I'll be boiling it all and then pickling it - yum! Yesterday I made a sweet / sour pickle for cucumbers. I had quite a few that needed to be used up somehow so I peeled them and put them into the brine; will see what it tastes like in a few weeks. I'll be making a batch of roast veg for dinner tonight.

It's all a bit of an odd day today... was meant to have a nail appointment but Nadine is not well so we've cancelled for now. Then Karl and Nadine need to figure out what to do about their holiday. They're due to drive to Germany on Wednesday - visiting friends in Switzerland for a few days and then back to the UK, but the drive obviously takes them through France. So now with France having been added to the list of quarantine countries they don't know if they can go or not. Karl cannot be off work for 2 weeks - if he doesn't work he doesn't get paid! But then, the question is do they have to quarantine if they're driving straight through without getting out the car?

Then, this weekend we're meant to have a surprise birthday party for a friends 50th (Ian), but heard from the friend that is hosting that Ian has shown a few Covid symptoms and has been tested, results expected tonight. If he does come back positive then I'm not sure if I need to self isolate as I (and Karl and Nadine) saw him Sunday 2nd August; so nearly 2 weeks ago.... as of when does the self isolation start - from time we last saw the person or from the time they potentially tested positive?

things to ponder for the day ;-)

Have a lovely day all x

Hope Nadine feels better soon Ria xx

With regards to driving through France, as long as they don't get out of the car, they should be okay. But that was talked about on a forum the other day and today all might change

Blisters stopped gravel shifting  I've obviously gone soft over the summer

Cleaning done and that's me for today :Hi: :Hi:

Good afternoon all.
Jan, steady with the gravel! Ria, your allotment sounds a very rewarding and relaxing (?) place to be. I hope your sciatica improves soon Saundra, it really is no fum when that strikes.
Lee is coming to pick Eliza up from ours soon. I've been to Cas to pay a cheque into the bank and stopped at Aldi on the way back for a few bits. They sell small packets of Atlantic Cod that are just the perfect size for Eliza's dinner.
The cloud has burned off now and I think the rest of the day might be a scorcher.
Just found out that Sergio isn't cooking this weekend! :o Is a disaster!
Have a good day all.

According to the BBC Covid info pages, providing they drive through without getting out of their car, they will be fine Ria.

Sorry you're in pain Saundra, hope it eases xxx

Blimey that is a disaster Crommers. I'm still hoping he'll move here

Zachery's 16 today, we haven't seen him since Feb, goodness know how much he's grown since then. He gets his GCSE results next week, he's already been offered a college place, but these results will decide if he get's the course he wants to do. It's a worrying time for so many young people right now.

E had more phone calls from the RNOH yesterday, one to arrange an MRI and xrays the other from Mr Palmer's secretary. It's being done at Stanmore next Wednesday and apparently Mr.P wants to see him while he's there. We explained getting there would be difficult, Mr.P's adamant he mustn't use public transport and I'm definitely not up to the long drive. She was lovely and said he's eligible for hospital transport and it's all arranged for this appointment and also when he goes in for his op.

Got the washing on the go and expecting a Sainsbury's delivery later this afternoon.

Hope you all have a good day, stay safe xx

Afternoon everyone :)

It's tipping down here, but I suppose we need it. I'm having an indoors day anyway, cleaning and sorting out. I must admit it's easier doing housework when it isn't boiling hot and humid

Don't overdo it Jan ;)

Ria, I don't think you will need to isolate if your friend is +, but fingers crossed that he isn't. Hope Nadine is feeling better soon. Hopefully that's correct, about being ok if they drive straight through France, but what if the car breaks down or someone needs the loo :? xx

Jen that's good news about E, and especially the transport 8-) Happy birthday to Zachary!

(((((Hugs))))) for you Saundra, sciatica is so painful :( xxx

Crommers, bad news you'll have to cook your own dinner! Buck up, Sergio! :P ;)

Love to all xxx

Afternoon all, it’s brightening up after a dull start.

We’ve had a busy morning. Joe and Amanda have left for a camping trip, they’re off to the Lake District until Monday although they’re in Manchester at the moment to break the journey up. Bill’s been to the vets for his boosters and yearly health check and everything’s fine, we’ve semi-sorted the garage and John’s made two tip trips and I’ve also done some shopping in town.
We’ve just had filled croissants for lunch, Tom had emmental and chorizo and me and John had emmental and mushrooms.

Have a good day all :)

Pepper and Fraggle had theirs the other day Jo - Fraggle had his first "geriatric" assessment as he's over eight years old now! I must admit to feeling slightly offended, calling my lovely, lively boy geriatric! :cute:
