Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 29 Oct 2020, 06:15

Good morning.

Sunny and toasty warm. 8-)

Working till 9......which is good as it'll keep my mind busy and stop me fretting about the news that France has imposed another lockdown from tomorrow.

Sis was messaging me last night really concerned.

She and I have flights booked to spend Christmas with dad (and I'm not apologising for writing the full word  ) but with this new restriction Michele and Mark are so concerned about not getting to the UK on time they've radically decided to leave France in the early hours of tomorrow, drive to Calais, stay in a hotel near the tunnel then get a train to an English airport.
Michele will fly to Glasgow and Mark will hire a car and drive to Northampton where his mum lives.

Maureen (Mark's mum and 84) is having an operation for a new hip on 28th November and Mark had booked to fly over before then, do his quarantine and then be able to look after his mum for a few weeks afterwards.

I can understand their fear of not being able to travel later on so I'm glad they have the chance to go asap.

Sorry.... I should've put this on a separate post. :?

I hope you got your new internet sorted Saundra. xx

Have a good day.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Foggy start, so that's slowed the interwebby stuff down to a crawl  :cute: Should be a warm day, once the fog has gone.

Wise move on their part Ally, things could be so different very quickly.

Well, the fog changed out plans. We were going into Ourique to have breakfast at Sonia's and then get the stuff I forgot yesterday, but not nice driving in thick fog and then sitting in it   So we'll go this afternoon and have a pit.stop at the bar on the way back 8-)

Cooking head on for me today. Making favas for tonight and curry for Saturday. Had meant to do the favas yesterday, but Gez stayed for about 3 hours, just chatting, so time ran away with me. Also do some prep for tomorrow's lunch.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning you two, morning all

Ally, I'm glad they're able to get over here now; they'll obviously need to quarantine when they get here but at least they'll be here when they are needed most. I was looking at flights to Germany for beginning December but news that they're going in to partial lock down as well is making me rethink esp as I'm certain they'll be taken off the list of 'safe corridor countries' any day now. Just so frustrating - so for now daily video calls with my mom will have to suffice.

Jan, wise to wait for the fog to lift - hope you get the other bits and bobs done and all your cooking out the way

Usual work day for me with some more pootling at home. It's really miserable out today so just as well there's plenty of indoor stuff to keep me occupied.

Have a lovely day everyone

Morning all, it’s a dreary damp day here although it has stopped raining for the moment. Michael and Kellie are here for the day as they are on midterm, currently on their iPads but that will end shortly as we encourage them to do other stuff. Michael has brought some books, Kellie has brought glittery paint, and we’ll have an indoor picnic for lunch which they always enjoy. We’re waiting for our supermarket delivery so they’ll help put that away too. So we are well occupied for the day!

Good morning all, it’s raining and windy here.

I walked Bill before the rain started and got home just as we felt the first drops. I got changed and went for a run in the rain which was refreshing, I was looking out for Joe all of the time because he was out running too.

We’re just having breakfast (we’ve discovered Tesco Super Berry Granola which is quite possibly the nicest cereal I’ve ever tasted) and then Joe’s heading off for Cornwall. He’s not sure when he’ll be able to go again once our tighter restrictions start, her parents and sister have been this week too and they’re in the same boat, but someone - either John (her Dad, he’s another John) or Joe will have to bring her home before Christmas. She could get the train but it’d take hours and four trains!

Tom’s driving over to the school later to drop in some books he’s been marking so that he’s not got so much to take on Monday, really I think it’s an excuse to just have somewhere to go.

Really glad that Michele’s managed to get around this Al, it’s must be a huge worry and upset for you both xx

Ria, I hope it’s not too long before you can get to Germany x

Osc, glittery paint sounds fun - and quite possibly messy

Jan, good idea to not go out in the fog x

Have a good day all xx

Morning all :D

Very wet here

Ally sensible of your sister, things can change so quickly.
Driving in fog isn't safe Jan, good idea to adjust your plans.
Hope it's not too long before you can visit your mum Ria.
I'm glad you enjoyed your run in the rain Jo, definitely not my idea of fun :o
Osc have a lovely day with Kellie and Michael.

Just been to get the bins in, needed my raincoat it's so horrid out there. They haven't emptied the food bin yet so guess I'll be doing it again later. House stuff today, Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Afternoon all. Trying to make travel plans in the current circumstances must be a nightmare; a total lottery.
Grim and grey hear, it's been raining all day.
Beef stew for tea. Eliza is here. She's fed the ducks in the park and in a minute is off to terrorise sister in law over the road.
Have a good day all.

Busy morning. And it's rather warm out there too 8-)

Re-potted four big plants, sadly had to break two of the pots, as the plants were totally pot bound  But they've been fed and watered and I've put the spare nice pots in the garden.

Favas and curry done, just need to wash up and then we'll head into Pingo to get the asparagus and other stuff.

Sainsbury's beckoned as it always does on a Thursday! We were done and back by 12 though, as D needed to get home. Jeff and Jayne are staying for the weekend, and she was expecting them by early afternoon. I've done the ironing and now have my feet up for a bit. Bangers and mash for tea, I think 8-)

Love to all xxx
