Panic buying

here we go again and the supermarkets are definitely to blame after the debacle we had in the previous lockdown

Bought the toilet rolls last week, Vic!

I think the next few days may see some panic buying but I'd like to think the supermarkets will have got their supply / distribution chains sorted out now. I expect it will settle down pretty quickly after lockdown starts, and I also think we won't see as much queuing to get into the shops as we experienced last March/April because the facemask wearing rule means more bodies are allowed in the shops at once than back during the first lockdown; also folk are more savvy what time of day to actually go shopping.

And a lot of households will still be carrying pretty high stocks of tins and dry goods anyway. I just need one more shop on Monday, around £40 I reckon (Mrs O has demanded chocolate ), and we'll be good to go for pretty much the whole month.

As we're back in a State of Emergency, it will be interesting here too. Took our local Pingo quite a while to get themselves sorted, stock level wise (then again, they've always got things missing )

Got plenty of dry goods and the freezers are full, just the fresh stuff is needed weekly, really.

I'm sorted for everything I need. Admittedly; I do have a click and collect order booked for tomorrow morning but that's because I've invited friends for dinner and they're vegan; so I need some specific foods and I also need some fresh veg that I can't bulk buy. But the main cupboard stuff I have enough to see me through for as long as is needed.

Jan, same as you, it's the fresh stuff that needs weekly shopping - and I found that was one of the bigger head aches last time round; because the minimum order value for deliveries or click & collect was more than I would spend if I popped into the shop in person. But thankfully Karl and Nadine, and another friend, also do online shopping so always ask if I need anything fresh and they add it to their order - or I order for them.

Like most of us I suspect, we've been buying the odd extra item as it got closer to winter. So we have no need to go nuts.

As we were down to our last four rolls - and we have three loos - I bought a pack of loo rolls yesterday. The shelves were almost empty, although oddly they did have the 16-roll multipacks piled up by the checkouts That's encouraging panic buying it you ask me My purchase was a 9 pack
