Would this happen in England?

Postby JanB » 05 Nov 2020, 22:01

Just had a message from our friends with the virus, staying in their camper van on a campsite in Fuzeta.

They are being moved to a 4 star hotel in Alvor, on the west Algarve, until they have recovered :o :o

I'm gobsmacked :o

Nope, they'd have been pulled up on the A303 for travelling in the camper van and "given words of advice" .... ;)

I think that when lockdown first started back in March; anyone arriving back in the UK had to self isolate and a few were put up in hotels at government cost. But don't think that happens any more and anyone that has to go into a hotel for whatever reason needs to self fund.... but as said; I think that's the case - not 100% certain

Yeah, I think that’s possibly part of the problem now. In that people are trusted to quarantine for the required time at home after arriving back here from certain countries but you have to wonder just how many do.

Apparently compliance is as low as 23%. Might as well not bother.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if they are taking the homeless from the streets and housing them for the duration, like last time?. :?:

Actually interesting and good point.... because normally come 1st December the winter shelters would start opening; not sure how that is going to work.

But I am fairly certain that something will be done - too many charities involved with homelessness for them not have a plan

Gosport put in shelters for the homeless last Winter and some of them have had the use of them all year BUT some refuse to use them because they can't have their dogs in there. The shelters are no smoking so some of the homeless won't go as they smoke. I understand that those on drugs are not offered

My cousin’s husband works for a charity which finds homes for vulnerable people and they were very involved in finding accommodation for the homeless in Birmingham back in the Spring. They did an amazing job so hopefully that will happen again now.
