Afternoon everyone :)

Definitely needing a duvet here, Ally and Jan :P  Ria we're also still using the summer duvet, with a velvet bedspread over the top - plenty warm enough ;) xxx

((((((Saundra))))))) it's a difficult time for people who live alone, I know. Great news on that refund though ;) xxx

Comments 18, that's so tragic :( My great grandfather was killed in 1914 but he was 35 and had a family, at least some adult life........ xxx

Ah, that's a shame about the charge on the DNA test Osc :( xxx

Jen the bins are a real task these days, with all the different bins :? Lately we've been putting D's out for her as they're such a struggle, so do take care and I hope the weather holds xxx

D got her NHS letter today, so I popped up there to go through it with her. Not as strict as last time, and guidance rather than law. The bubble thing is left for individuals to decide for themselves, whether or not they want one 8-)

Love to all xxx

Kaz got my letter today as well?
Now what puzzles me is telling you to stay in and yet it says to attend hospital and health appointment
Now if it was an urgent appointments I would attend but certainly not if it was for a minor appointment it's far to risky I think imo

Jen and Kaz (for D) aren't you able to get a "Recycling assistance required" placard thing that you put in the window where the bin men can see it? My neighbour has one - so she has her wheely bins outside the front where they are out the way and easy for her to access and then come rubbish day the bin men come get the bins and put them back for her. It's large square sign with the recycling symbol on it

Contact your respective councils and see if they have something similar. Yes, it does mean having bins at the front of the house at all times but hopefully that would be do-able for both you Jen and for D?

It sounds a good idea Ria, but I can manage the wheelie bins, just being two of us means they're never full up. It's the paper bag that causes the problem, it's far too flimsy to leave outside in all weathers and is only collected fortnightly. What with 2 newspapers each day, a tv magazine every week and any cardboard boxes from deliveries it weighs quite a lot by the time collection day comes round.

Oh Ria, that sounds like a good scheme but Doreen would hate having her bins out on the front. I know her, she'd rather drag them out herself ;) We don't mind doing it for her :)

A few months ago dad was getting confused what days the council came to take what bin. He's extremely good at recycling so was concerned he'd miss the appropriate day.

He told sis about this, she rang up the local division of Lanarkshire council who were beyond helpful!

They sent dad a list of the days on which each colored bin was lifted and then said if dad was in agreement, rather than drag his bins out from the gated side of the house to the front, the bin men would just enter dad's side bit and take and return the bins themselves.

How kind is that?!

Sis rang the department concerned to thank them. :D
