No other party would want to be in the hot seat right now. None of them have any clue what to do any more than the current Westminster shower. I'm sure they are thanking their lucky stars that their catastrophic election results have saved them from any real blame.

Can you just imagine what that menagerie would be like, right now, if May had remained in power and not called an election? It doesn't bear thinking about.

But Boris has a pending other issue which will guarantee his ejection from his position if he screws it up and there are two views on screwing it up but only one which will get him evicted.

So you can understand if the government has conflicting priorities right now. EU member states only really have one problem right now, Covid (or at least that is what they believe and where their effort and time is spent), Brussels has 3 problems and London has two.

The current situation will keep the political historians occupied for centuries.

Just doing the rounds of how crappy our government is.

One sure measure of performance is how many people are dying. So let's see.

UK, not so good.

We should be as good as France.

Nope they are still locked down till the 15th with forms and fines. Not even comparable with us, remembering they went into the second wave one to two weeks ahead.

How about Italy?

Image

Dear me, no, they're not doing well at all are they? Just as bad as last time.

But how about Germany? They were SO much better than us so they Have to be doing well don't they????

Erm. So mr mophead and his cohorts aren't the worst in the world and clueless.

Who would have known.

What an utterly tasteless and inhumane trick to pull to try to defend the indefensible. Up to this point nobody was comparing the UK to anywhere else on this issue.

Not only that but the graphs are pictorially skewed to make your point as the y axes are not to the same scale.

Shameful.

You and others, WM, have constantly railed about how the current government and specifically our PM, are making a complete ARSE of fighting covid.

I was putting some perspective on it.

France is similar to the UK. The chart shows that wave 2 has much lower deaths than wave 1. If I were to put the daily cases up there, it would show that the number of cases are much higher but the number of deaths are much lower. The chart doesn't change left to right.

For Italy they are as effective with wave 2 as they were with wave 1. Otherwise known as not effective at all.

Germany, for whatever reason, got off very lightly with wave 1. But now Germany is, essentially, out of control with deaths. It keeps climbing and there is no end in sight.

Not only is the UK not the worst in the world, it is not even the worst in Europe. Yet any action by the government is too little, too late, too un-coordinated. There is constant criticism in the press and elsewhere.

I just thought I'd highlight that with some more balanced info. I could have used the US as an example but everyone knows they are not controlling it at all and that would not be a fair comparison.
