Afternoon everyone :)

We have freezing fog here, so as D didn't want to drive in it I walked up to hers to see what shopping she might need, and Mick is taking me to Sainsbury's tonight.

I think I've just ruined our living room carpet!  I lit a tealight, put it in the little holder, and the damn thing flared right up. I blew it out in a panic, but I blew it over and boiling hot wax spattered right across the carpet :? Mick is having a go at getting it out :?

Love to all xxx

Brown paper and a warm iron Kaz.

The solar house is backing onto the main house Ria  but yes, very thick walls, thankfully. We're going to video chat in about 20 minutes, they were driving back from Toronto to their farm.

Yes Kaz Jan has said what I'd say - the brown paper absorbs grease so should work ok x

So today we couldn't get out of the front door - it had frozen to the frame!! So much for my lie in, I was up trying to sort it while Tom was de-icing his car to go to work. At LAST the boiler has been fixed though so no more refilling it twice a day!! :Hi:

I've just been mooching a bit today, doing little jobs I never get chance to do. Oh and I popped to Lidl and Asda and when I got home I have sat and watched Diana in Her own Words. Very good. Went up into the loft with some more stuff and there are drips on the floor! I'm hoping it's condensation as I can see the under roof felt has drips on also....PLEASE be all it is!!! It's a never ending problem house is this atm!!

Our Lily is poorly.....she's had a sore throat and sleeping for a few days, D took her to the dentist yesterday and her gums are very inflamed (she's also had a triage GP appt and has been taking ABs but they're not touching her) but today Tom rang me to say D has taken her to A&E!! She's screaming in pain......bless her. I saw her yesterday as the dentist is just across the road from my work and she was smiling and chatty but very pale....she's not eaten for about 5 days :(

Have a lovely evening all x

Oh the poor little thing, Gal! :( I do hope she's ok!

Mick has worked a miracle, and got it out with baby oil and a stiff brush, but I will bear the brown paper thing in mind if it should ever happen again. I hope not, it was just such a freak accident  :x

Oh goodness, that was lucky Kaz! I knocked a wax melt holder over a couple of years ago, and it was a gingerbread one so the colour was obvious. Thankfully (??) it went behind the heavy unit and I did my best at cleaning it as I couldn’t move the unit and didn’t want to tell John because he’d been nagging me about the mess I was bound to make one day with candle wax  but from what I could see it had dripped down the skirting board and collected in the bit where it meets the carpet. The unit has pull out boxes so I was able to remove those and scrape it off the walls as much as I could.

We decorated in the Summer and had to move the unit. Apart from one little bit on the carpet there was nothing else. Really not sure what happened but by some miracle it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I’d expected.

Chatting to David and Rita earlier, I didn't realise that the solar system was over 20 years old. Hence it blew up  So they're happy with what we've done.

And two hours out of Toronto, where they are, we have the same nighttime temperature

Nightmare Jo! :? :cute: I've used scented candles and tea lights for years and this is the first time I've had a bad spill. TBH I'm still not sure why it flared up like that :?
