We are going to see a doctor this afternoon as mrs.e is not feeling very well. We refused to have a telephone consultation.
We are trying to declutter slowly. Amazing what you keep over the years.

Hi all - Thursday again (pretty much the only chance I get to post in here!) :D

It's an unpleasant damp drizzly grey day - but at least we don't have snow!! I had a click and collect at Matalan and needed a grocery shop so went for those, and also called round at the Secret Garden for a cherry bakewell scone and a latte, which I consumed in the car :D I also bought a caramel blondie for 'ron ;) (later ron....geddit? )

Got some sad news earlier, not sure I mentioned last week, The lady I used to work with years ago, was in a coma, having lost her husband to covid before....just heard she's died too :( She was only 65. It's made me catch my breath a bit.....it's so close to home now....makes you worried to go out.

An unusual story from yesterday....at work we had a new patient come in, lovely bubbly girl. I dispensed her two pairs of specs, she showed me a photo of her forthcoming wedding dress...could we colour match the sash/ribbon for the specs? Anyway, story short, when she was sat at the desk so I could sort out payment, she asked if she could book an appt for 'the kiddo'....she referred to the child as 'them' or 'they' so I at first assumed there was more than one....I took a DOB (child is 9) and then when she clarified it was only for one child, I must've looked puzzled and that's when she told me the child is gender neutral.....so as our computer system wouldn't let me book the child in without a title (Miss/Master) and the lady wouldn't/couldn't give me one, we agreed on Rev, as that is a gender neutral title :? . I consider myself fairly liberal in my attitude but I was a bit taken aback that such a young child would be so insistent upon their situation. We've yet to meet Temby (their first name) or their female parents....but that'll be interesting...

Afternoon all :)

Just typed a long reply, then managed to lose it  :cute:

Groundhog Day here too, if it's Thursday it must be Sainsbury's :P Did some cleaning when I got home. Very achey today, but that's probably because I did Zumba two days in a row.

Ally, your office sounds great! Yours too Frank, have a word with Mick will ya? :ugeek: :P   xxx

Jan, hope the dental appointment went ok, and best wishes for Lucy xxx

Jo, that's good news about Shannon! :) xxx

Saundra, I have that daft song "We have no bananas todayyyy..." in my head now  ;) xxx

Osc I'm such a slow knitter that I started a baby blanket for my niece that wasn't ready until her little brother arrived three years later :? :? xxx

Hi Crommers :) xxx

Cruiser, I hope MrsE is ok xxx

Gal that's so strange. I honestly believe a child should be through puberty before they can have gender realignment :? How can they know for sure at such a young age? :( Sorry to hear about your workmate  xxx

Love to all xx

Kaz I don’t think they’re having realignment as such, they just don’t wish to be of either sex, gender neutral, if you will.

It’s the first time I’ve encountered this in such a situation. Not met the child yet, got that pleasure in a couple of weeks.

One of our granddaughters went through a "I'm not sure if I'm female or male" but things seem to have calmed down a bit now. She's 18. I think in that youngerts case Gal, it's almost as if the mother is making the decision.

Dentist is doing me a new and larger crown - for nowt   The dentist who did the original root canal has made such a mess of things, this is his way of saying sorry. The last two visits have been free too 8-)

Lucy was a lot better today and loved her pink rose :D :D She's been doing too much and as she has so much wrong with her, it takes it's toll sometimes.

Lovely bbq, dark now, but still sat outside - well, at the back, so closed in.

Glad Edward is doing okay Osc. Does this mean I can't milk it when I eventually get mine done

Cruiser, the landline is there for emergencies and everyone should really have one. If there are power cuts mobile masts only have short term battery back-up and, of course, charging your mobile also becomes problematic or impossible. Sorry, but I am hanging on to it solely for that purpose. Landlines have their own power supply separate from the grid.

You could probably get one for pennies from a charity shop. It does not have to have bells and whistles just a simple plug in handset will do.

WM,
Thank you.
We are thinking of having an additional socket installed so mrs e can easily answer the phone.
We may also have new cabling to the existing sockets as it was installed over 20 years ago.

The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with mrs.e. Has given us a form to go for a blood test and to have an X-ray. He was very good and did not rush the examination.
He was English so no language problem.
She is now relaxing on a couch in the lounge.

Cruiser, what you needs is a corded phone that plugs directly into the socket with no other power source. Do not get one that sits in a powered shoe / base unit as it defeats the object.

Something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1205261388?iid=123491094645
