Some tremendous examples of BBC tip toery this morning on Radio Leeds. Infections are rising in Yorkshire along the "M62 corridor" in "multi-generational families".
A translation from wokery into English would read "In places like Bradford, Dewsbury and Halifax infections are rising in people of Kapistani origin. The reason for this is twofold; firstly because the community has largely ignored advice on gatherings and social distancing and secondly because they are refusing the jab".
Wonderful. People all over Europe crying out for immunisation and people in this country refusing it.

I was talking to my father about this the other day. My take is, "fine, you don't want the vaccine, then you will remain restricted until the whole country has had the vaccine and all restrictions are released. Don't complain about race or any of the other crap, it is your choice and you chose to be restricted".

The other thing is that these people refusing the vaccine are more susceptible to dying from the virus than the norm. So if they want to stay home and run a higher risk of dying, be my guest.

I won't try and force a vaccine on anyone that doesn't want it. But they don't get to carry on life as if they have had the vaccine until everyone else has. I never take the flu vaccine because the adenovirus they use totally screws me up for a month. I'd rather have the flu at least it is over in a week and I can move on. I do mean flu and not some indeterminate virus. I'm talking temps over 104F. Yet, when it is available, I will take this vaccine. Not because I fear for myself but because the risk of my transmitting it is reduced by 50% to 75% and that is just responsible.

If people want to be stupid that is their right. But we need to treat them like stupid people, not as if they are normal.

That goes for all races, creeds and colours.

Some may find it blunt but with over 100,000 people dead, I believe bluntness is deserved.

In history, when the Black plaque was at its worst, a village in Derbyshire self isolated not letting anyone in or out. This stopped the plaque getting into the village.

Should do something similar with coomunities which will not accept the virus. No one in our out of the area until everyone is vaccinated.
It may be harsh but why should a lot suffer because a few do not want to have the vaccine.

Eyam, I think Cruiser.

Yes. I'm not in favour of the vaccine passport or compulsory vaccination but if some communities decide virtually en masse that they ain't following the rules, what are you going to do? Just be sensible fgs.

The Telegraph had a report earlier this week that Britons of black African origin are seven times less likely to have the jab than white people. Honestly, what's the problem? And it's selfish; it makes the reintroduction of lockdown more likely.

And then you come back to the vaccine passport.

I think it may be inevitable because of refusniks as opposed to government control wishes.

No much. In a free(ish) country we cannot force people to be vaccinated and at the same time we cannot exclude communities and individuals from being part of society. What are we going to do, build walled ghettos round Manningham, Brixton and St Paul's and their likes? Tag the unvaccinated or vice versa - passports? They are all divisive strategies and open to misuse / fraud.

It is a problem without a solution and one we will have to live, and die, with as things stand. The alternative is total authoritarianism with everyone 'chipped' at birth. "Please place you hand in the scanner. That's fine you can go in." Or "Guards, we have one, bring the cuffs!"

I am becoming more relaxed about it as more of us get the jab(s) because I am convinced that we will be going down the flu jab route with a yearly booster in the future. At some point Darwin's Law will kick in and thin out the unvaccinated.

As long as it is not picked up by some agenda group as some kind of master plan for removing the "unwanted".

Fancy a pint? Well under the new guidance here's what you and they will have to do.

I think that I'll give the pub, cafe, restaurant a miss. I don't have any app and the booze and food in the supermarket is cheaper. Remind me though: why can I mix with hundreds of the unprotected (often wilfully so) in the supermarkets, picking up and putting goods down at will without any restriction, yet I have to sign in to be safe in a Covid secure pub / hotel / restaurant?

We will be heading for full Bio and RFID ID cards at this rate. No thanks.

So said Micky M Ouse.

Same rules as last summer after the first lockdown, or have I missed something? I know they are saying this time everyone in a "party" will have to sign in; IIRC it was just one of the party previously.
The procedure wasn't a great hardship but it did cramp our style, in the sense that Mrs O and I only frequented two very local cafes which we could walk to, and where we could give written contact details (we never got the App), but eventually we stopped going when, sitting outside for a brunch, the wasps simply got too pesky. The bottom line is that the "hospitality sector" in this area certainly missed out on a large chunk of our custom and money compared with pre-Covid times, and I can't see us exactly rushing out in 2021, to be honest.

I have still got my Identy card which was issued at the start of the war in 1939.

Will that be any use when I go to the pub?
