Tuesday shopping.

Postby Workingman » 04 Dec 2012, 18:48

I usually go to ASDA on Monday morning, but I might change.

Yesterday I missed because I didn't need much, but then today I ran out of sandwichy things. I waited until the school run finished before setting off.

Wandering round the aisles I noticed that the Quick Sale shelf was full, so off I wandered......

I bought:
800g of lean Irish steak mince - £1.81
4 pack of pork loin chops - £1.23
500g Lamb mince - 2.36
Sirloin steaks 1 at £2.02 and 1 at £2.14, both less than 1/2 price.

They also had their own hand-made pizzas, large ones, for between 70p and 80p depending on the topping, and portions of curry for 78p - 1/4 price.

You did well, Frank. We often get some bargains on the reduced items section. providing we can consume it by the use-by date.

I got several packs of meat in the reduced shelf at Tesco the other day. Minced lamb, stewing steak and pork sausages, all nearing their sell by. I made stew for dinner tonight and put the rest in the freezer.

I always check out the reduced shelf - I got two big Bramley apple crumbles today that I popped into the freezer, to be used over Christmas for easy puds, and recently I've had lamb chops, mince, gammon, all sorts really :D

The only reason I did not get some pizzas is that the freezer would be packed out with the meat.

It is portioned now and freezing nicely. I am going to enjoy the Sirloin at Christmas.

Our freezer is tightly packed at the moment, with extras for Xmas.

I had to de-frost it last week to make a bit more room.

I tend to shop at the wrong time for offers too but the last two Thursdays I've been in Asda around 8pm and they've had stacks of their bakery bread rolls at 5p per pack of 6, dated the following day.
Got quite a lot in the freezer.
