Hairdressers and an authoritarian government

Postby cromwell » 09 Apr 2021, 22:15

Article in the Telegraph today.
Hairdressers and beauty salons have been told to avoid long and complex treatments when they open on Monday, to reduce the length of time customers spend in the chair.
This petty bureaucrat lunacy gets better.
Guidance published on the Governments website says hair and beauty salons "should consider providing shorter, more basic treatments to keep the time to a minimum".
Right then ladies - who fancies a short back and sides??
Apparently highlights, massages or braids are a problem, they take too long.
Oh yes. Staff must wear PPE, customers must wear a face mask, staff should turn down music in the salons to avoid customers raising their voices and spreading more of the virus through droplets...
Oh yes - visitors must register their details with NHS track and trace on arrival.. If you don't have a smart phone how do you do that?
I'm not making this up.
This is absolute raving lunacy.
How have we arrived at a situation where some officious idiot can actually give out these "guidelines" with a straight face?

If this is the future Christ help us.

We, well some idiots, voted for the perambulating haystack, Mr Mophead, at the last election and he promoted his not-too-bright sycophants to the cabinet.

Didn't we do well?

It is, yet again, the point of being seen to do something rather than thinking things through.

It is not just the government in power. The other parties are constantly asking why they don't do more. It is only the rebels holding them in check.

Those who understand Binary and those who do not.

Slightly concerningly, the barber I use hasn't indicated anything on the local FB page about re-opening. I know the first lockdown left him both financially and emotionally worried, and I wonder now if he's decided to call it a day .... I hope not.

I hope Boris Johnson's hairdresser hasn't retired. His hair has developed a life of its own.

It's what happens when you comb your hair with a balloon because you are not allowed near sharp or pointy objects.

Gormless guideline no 199 - pub customers drinking outside tomorrow may be asked to wear a mask.

It's like some daft civil servant is running a competition for the most pointless and officious "guideline".
