Is when we are free of Covid restrictions. A milestone in our "cautious but irreversible" path out of lockdown and all that.
A great day.
So why is Herefordshire county council hiring Covid marshals to start work from July the first?
Surely we aren't being lied to - again?

Looks like a belt and braces thing.

It keeps the officers of Hertfordshire CC in work attending meetings, forums and focus groups in order to maintain, upgrade or amend 'the plan'.

It's only £3 million, and it is not their money.

Remember the sort of general position here last year? Lockdowns don't work, vaccine or herd immunity (yes vaccines give that without the deaths), is the only way out. So we pretty much agreed that riding the lockdown, face mask, hand sanitiser (heard about that recently), hobby horse harder is counter productive.

So we are on the opposite curve. The Vaccine is here, restricting movement until the vaccine has its effect is effective, controls and restrictions DO help and will make things better. All the effort put into sensible and proportionate, activities, during the vaccine roll out, have a positive effect and are worth doing and investing in.

This is what we are seeing now. Every £ invested in getting shut of this thing, now, is beneficial. Just as most £ prior to the vaccines was pretty much flushed down the pan.
