The interesting thing is that for 8 years he was Mayor of London. He worked hard, brought business to London, took decisions which the city needed and would have been re-elected again if he chose to run.
The Guardian, who have no love of the Tories or Boris, had no sleaze to put on him and were
hard pushed to declaim his time as mayor. But you will have to set your search engine's time limits in order to find any articles which say anything other than Boris is sleazy, dishonest or a thoroughly disreputable character.
It seems that the advent of his leadership of the Brexit cause and his take over as PM have set all sides against him. Yes he's not his own best friend at times, but he held an office which is larger than many UK ministries in terms of budget and if there were real sleaze or lack of moral turpitude there would have been no effort spared to go after him. Especially as he was located in the very city that those reporters infest.
Now, I'm expected to believe, he has grown horns and cloven hooves in the last 2 years. Is he really any worse than many a MP in westminster? I don't know. What I do know is that there have been a whole room full of knives being sharpened for Boris for years now and there will be no end to the attempted bloodletting until he is gone.
That being said, if he was so daft as to tell a lie about public funds, or donations for the flat refurbishment, then he's going to pay a much higher price than is warranted.
After all Sturgeon lied her ass off and look at where she is right now!
