Money for old rope.

The BBC pays over 72 "stars", who are so stellar you will never have heard of many of them, more than the PM. They cost US getting on for £25 million.

Lineker on £1.75 million to chat about football. Ball on £1.3 million to play records on the radio. Edwards £0.5 million to read an autocue, and so on.

They are on top of the other "talent" it employs to produce and present the endless entertainment of the One Show, Bargain Hunt, Dom Digs In and Crouchy's Late Euros. It also has a seemingly endless supply of managers, reporters "from the end of the street" as well as local and national weather presenters. Then there is the mess that is its website...

It needs a damned good overhaul and slimming down.

Well I’m worried about Lineker. Apparently he’s taken a £390,000 pay cut.
Think we should start a Go Fund Me before he has to resort to a food bank?

Seriously though, how can his wage be justified. How can his job even be justified? Just show the highlights of a game and move on to the next one. There’s absolutely no need to have a panel of overpaid pundits in the studio.

Will Covid restrictions allow the BBC to send half of their workforce to Japan for Olympic coverage or is that a little jolly that the licence payers won’t be funding this time around.

I think the intention is that the vast majority of the commentating and punditry for the Olympics will be done from Salford Quays, Jo.
I got that from a Daily Telegraph article dated March, but I can't link it as it's behind a subscription paywall.

At least some of the highest paid Beeb employees got pay cuts, which is a move in the right direction, but over a million squid for Linekar and Zoe Ball? Good grief!

Lineker also works for BT.
OK, Lineker has some sort of profile, but if Zoe Ball was abducted by aliens tomorrow I doubt that anyone would notice.
