Login to VV and go to user Control Panel under Board Index or on any board.- just click on the heading: User Control Panel (0 new messages) • View your posts

It might read User Control Panel (2 new messages) • View your posts - or similar if you have PMs waiting.

Now go to the Board Preferences tab.

Look for these options

Notify me on new private messages: Yes No

Pop up window on new private message: Yes No

Make sure Yes is ticked on both then hit the Submit button to save your changes.

From now on when you Login you will see how many unread PMs you have received. Thanks.

I'm not being funny but does Cruiser have to do all this for pm's.

I guess this is about the meet, and obviously it is up in the air for Ally.

We all know, we choose to come or not to come, we know we are all invited.

Cant you talk to Cruiser on here, if you want to make it a private thread mark it as such, but dont make him jump through hoops. You tell us all you are sending PM's, as far as I am concerned and I am sure I am not alone, there really is no need

Gosh that does sound a bit of a palaver to read pm's. I'm guessing it's about the Brum meet too, surely you could just let Cruiser know on here.

I sent Cruiser some PMs about things and they sat there for days unread even though he was in here posting. I was just trying to help him out because maybe he didn't realise about the control panel thing and the options. It is no palaver at all. My thinking was that sending him another PM telling him to read the PMs he had not read seemed pretty pointless, hence the use of Cafe.

I used to get email notifications about PMs and even though the box is ticked they have stopped coming. If I was not logged in to VV and someone had sent me a PM it would go to email, which is always on, and from there I could see it had arrived and login to read it. That no longer happens and they are not in any spam folder so it's a bit of a mystery and that's why I use the method mentioned in my post. It is not a remotely private issue and, who knows, it might help some others.

Just as an aside.... I do not have a clue on how to go about making a thread private as I have never done it.
