My car is very very poorly.
The garage took the spark plugs out of the engine. Some water came out of the cylinders which is not a good sign.Tried to turn the engine over but it would not move.
Have had estimates for a replacement engine. There could still be other problems with the electrics which may not immediately show.

So have taken the plunge and ordered another car, a Toyota Yaris automatic only two years old with just over 19,000 miles on the clock. This is from a local
Toyota dealer.
Will get it next Saturday 21st August. There are lots of buttons and switches which I did not have on my other car. But no ejection seat!!

Wise move Cruise and good choice on car - they are fab little cars! Wishing you many happy and safe miles once you get it

My neighbour ended up spending a small fortune on her car; it was always a little repair here and a little one there but they soon added up and then she ended up with a huge repair bill and even after all that she still ended up having to buy a new car because the old one just wasn't working as it should.

Sounds like a decent car, Cruiser. A mechanic friend told me that 10,000 a year is the average so your new car sounds good.

Echoing what Ria says, the repairs start off small then snowball, it's knowing when to throw the towel in. Water in the cylinders is never a good sign and could be down to a number of things - all of them expensive. And I'm with Osc, 10,000 miles / year is nothing for modern cars; the days when an engine needed a full recon at 50,000 miles are long gone.

The Yaris is a good choice but on today's roads I would have forked out that bit extra for the ejection seat!

They are great little cars, our family owns two of them. D has a hybrid that's a few years old now, while B has been learning in D's old one, that she kindly gave to B. Twenty years old, not a thing wrong with it

Toyota make brilliant cars. Tim's 15 year old Toyota was collected for scrapping. The dealer liked it so much he gave it a going over and his wife drives it now
