When I was diagnosed with cancer on March 10th last year, we were due to go to Budapest a few days later. I phoned the travel company to see if it was possible to move our money to another trip later on, but obviously the answer was no which I expected and I knew it would be covered by insurance. Three days later, I got a date for surgery on the 18th March so phoned again to cancel the trip. The words “I need to cancel….” were barely out of my mouth when I was told brusquely and rather rudely “you know you won’t get a refund”. (This was just at the start of COVID). Seeing as my head was all over the place, I merely explained my reason instead of chewing her head off, but I was very upset and the annoyance and hurt never really left me. A few weeks ago I was on Trustpilot to leave a positive review for another company, and ended up leaving one for the travel company explaining what had happened and how I felt.
Fast forward to today and I receive a phone call from the travel company, apologising profusely and we have been given a voucher for €100!!!
