Morning Ally, morning everyone

Another warm day here too 8-)

Been awake most of the night, just one of those night when I couldn't sleep. So a bit of bed hopping

Off out for a walk soon, with Jan and her monster of a German Shepherd - he's pony size  She's breaking me in gently and we're going to the barragem. There are some walks around here, but just a little strenuous for my first proper walk in many months.

Back to shower, second breakfast and get the cleaning out of the way. General pootling and reading later.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning all, it’s sunny here and was a lovely morning for a walk despite it still being dark when we start off now.

Joe’s off to see Amanda after work, he’s back on his fortnightly Falmouth weekend trips now.

I’m waiting for the Tesco delivery, that’s due between 10 and 11.

Hopefully the bin will be emptied today. They should’ve been done on Tuesday, I’m just hoping that they don’t do what they did in January and decide that they can’t get them done so we’ll have to wait until the next collection in two weeks. Anyone else having delays?

Enjoy the bacon rolls Al, hope Don doesn’t have cause to get stressed tonight!

Have a lovely walk Jan.

Have a good day all x

Funny you mentioning bins Jo....having spent a month in Nottingham at Craig's I saw first hand the debacle of bin collection. Or rather not!!

Their household one gets collected every two weeks. As does the recycling one. But when I was there the recycling one only got taken once.
On asking Craig about this it seems this happens a few times a year.

The rates he pays are flippin extortionate too!

That’s exactly how it is here too Al. We’re paying over £200 per month for Council Tax.

Not sure if it’s the same in Nottingham but we then have to pay extra if we want the garden waste bin emptying. That’s a one off charge each year, with no discount for pensioners, and if you’ve got a large garden and need two garden waste bins then the charge is doubled as it’s per bin and not per household.
If we go to the tip then we have to pay to dispose certain things there too, for instance if you’ve got a bit of building rubble or some tiles then it’s £3 per bag - but you can’t get much in a bag as it gets too heavy to lift so the cost soon mounts up.

Council Taxes in the UK are so high. :o

Craig pays over £200 per month too Jo....but great joy, his garden one is included in that price.

Bin duty is very different over here. :D

We have them at the end of our lane. Household, plastic, bottles and garden stuff and they get emptied every single day. Even Sundays. :cute:

I don't know what we pay  but I know it's a fraction of UK costs. I'll ask Don when he gets back.

When we cleared mum and dad's house we must've made 100 visits to the local tip  but we didn't have to pay anything.

I think different boroughs have different rules.

morning all

Jan, enjoy the walk
Ally, hope Don's nerves don't get too frazzled this evening :D
Jo, the mornings are so dark now - we'll have a bit of a reprieve when the clocks go back, but that means the evenings are darker even earlier and it won't be long before the mornings are just as dark as they are now :d

As for the bins - same set up here Jo, recycling and general are included in the council tax and the gardening we pay separately for. I used to have just the one bin for gardening waste, but about 5 or so years ago got a 2nd. But for some reason - for the past two years they've not charged me for the 2nd so I've just kept quiet about it. I don't always need the 2nd one so offer it for neighbours to use so I think it's fair ;-) Well that's my logic

We've been lucky with our bins and haven't had issues (yet). The gardening one wasn't collected on it's usual Thursday a few weeks back, but they came on Saturday instead.

Well about to do a shopping run - need to get a few things in. It's such a cold windy grey day I'd quite happily just plonk myself on the sofa, but alas, work needs to be done as well :D

have a lovely day everyone x

Good morning all.
The Rington's man has just been with the tea delivery.
Eliza is due after morning nursery; MrsC is doing the big shop at Sainsbury's.
Next Monday it is six weeks since my hip op and I will be able to drive the car, thank the Lord. I will have the choice to go out or not - yay!
Our council tax bill is high enough as it is, God only knows how much it will be next year, when our local council whack it up with the excuse that it's for "social care".
I'd love a breakdown of that social care btw. Some money will go where it's needed and some won't.
It's lovely outside right now, ideal for a walk, so I'm off.Have a good day all.

That was a lovely, if rather warm, walk :Hi:

Where we went would have been underwater a few years ago. The village was flooded to make the reservoir, but it's now all on view

Quick shower, then we take Chris's car back and have a coffee in the bar. 8-)
