The MP from West Durham is on Sky at the moment. He supported the Government and was very enthusiastic about the positive things that were happening in his constituency. He was in full flow and had no intention of being deflected from his message. It obviously didn't suit Dermot Murnaghan who was doing his level best to turn the conversation back to the failings of Boris and the Government. It wasn't to be though. It's strange how the media would much rather peddle doom and gloom continuously even when a ray of light seemed to appear.

If omicron continues going the way it has in the past few days, with 10 in hospital and serious cases flat, Johnson won't be asking for anything.

He got what should have been in place months ago, vaccine passports for mass events and mandatory vaccinations for staff who work with vulnerable patients.

Until hospital cases explode, serious cases rise dramatically and deaths rise dramatically, no further controls will be applied.

So far that has NOT happened.

The passports and staff vaccinations are just a precaution. No more. Because the data does not warrant more.

Meds: he was being asked about events that had just unfolded, live, from parliament, before our very eyes. He was deflecting and dissembling and Murnaghan was right to hold his feet to the fire.

Suff: we moved to plan B after weeks / months of fairly steady figures. Why? Omicron, that's why. It drove today's disaster for the Johnson, but that was more than just about plan B, it was also about performance. He is now damaged goods.

Omicron: in the space of ten days it had gone from 2 to 448 cases. In the six days since then it has gone to 5,346 cases. In the next two weeks hospitalisations and deaths will be starting to show. If the doubling continues as at present then the number of active cases will be in the many tens of thousands.

I bloody well hope it is as mild as many are claiming, though I cannot be sure at this time.

I didn't record the interview Frank, but I recollect that he did actually answer the question as to why he had voted for the Government, maybe more than once. It's just that he might have added a little bit extra that Murnaghan didn't want to hear. ;)

I didn't see the interview Meds. I've mainly given up on Sky and the BBC. Their interviews all seem to be very accusatory and rude.

Granted we had a time of steady high cases. But it was not stressing hospitals or creating a massive bubble in deaths.

Omicron measures did force plan B, but it is still unproven what the impact will be.

I do understand that you can't wait until you are in a crisis before you act. However you cannot take crisis measures whilst there is no crisis, the people will not stand for it.

If Omicron does spread the way you think it will, it will prove one thing.

Masks and social distancing are useless for the general population. Otherwise they would work and Omicron wouldn't spread. Right?

I know I go on about Boris' hair but he really needs a short back and sides. By not keeping his unruly locks neat and tidy, his appearance is surely undermining his authority (or what he has left of it)

He looks like a bag of **it with the remains of an old wheatsheaf sticking out the top. He is supposed to represent us on the world stage but he is a bloody embarrassment. It's his primary schoolboy way of being a "rebel" a little bit ooh, a little bit aah. Same with his mask wearing, He has one on but worn below the nose in a "look at me I've got one on, but I am wearing it this way to let all my fans know that I don't like them". He is a 24 carat plank.

Our floundering PM is back on tv tonight. Maybe we will find out if we are going into plan c or lockdown on Jan 5th, as widely rumoured.
If so the day after a spanking by his backbenchers for one set of restrictions, he will be pushing for even more restrictions.
I guess we'll see what we'll see.
I wonder if promises have already been made.

More waiting.
