I used to work at Yeovil Town many years ago and can remember one occasion stewards were patting a guy down and asked to look at his flask which did not contain any beverage BUT did contain 2 kitchen knives!

Where does one find the fixture lists and results for these teams.
I can remember when the local paper used to do this but times have changed.
There has been no mention of the snooker results even though it is being shown on TV.
Minority sports are not news unless something special happens.

We should’ve been in our seats right now, after just kicking off. Must admit to being relieved when it was called off though. I was really wrestling with the decision of whether to go or not. My head was saying stay home but my heart was thinking that we might go behind closed doors for a time and this might be our last time there for a while.

No match for Ossie this afternoon ....

a) 10 ex 16 scheduled Yeovil & District games had been postponed by last Thursday evening

b) No postponements listed on the Dorset League fixtures, but I wouldn't trust that as far as I could throw it, they're not exactly reliable in updating matters. I'm not inclined to travel to Stalbridge and back on a whim.

c) My local rugby club issued a Covid protocol update last Thursday:

To all members
Your board met on the evening of 15th to consider the club’s response to the growing number of cases of Covid-19 amongst club members and in the general population.
The first thing to say is that all current planned events are going ahead. The situation is being reviewed regularly.

However from today, Thursday, 16th December, until further notice, the following protocols should be followed:
All members and visitors to all inside areas of clubhouse building are required to wear face masks unless seated and eating, drinking or changing.
All members are asked to take a lateral flow test before coming to the club.
All visiting teams and other visitors are to be asked to take a lateral flow test before coming to the club.

Your board also resolved that all members should be encouraged to take advantage of vaccination opportunities as there is a possibility that, in future, those who cannot show that they have been fully vaccinated may not be permitted to enter the club.

Note the request for spectators to take a lateral flow test ..... somewhat OTT perhaps, it's not exactly Stamford Bridge .....
And today's Badgers (2nd team) game against Swanage & Wareham has been postponed - seems like NDRFC have got Covid cases in the camp.

d) I think Gillingham Town's soccer match this afternoon has gone ahead, but I know social distancing there is logistically difficult - one narrow entrance/exit right where everyone congregates - so I've given it a miss.

Covid permitting, the Ostrich will be back in 2022!

I agree Ossie, and when I spoke to Joe he was feeling the same too. It would’ve been interesting actually to see how many empty seats there were. Obviously with season tickets we can’t cancel ours but I know a few people who have membership so just buy for the occasional game and they’d all called the ticket office before it was postponed and had refunds for this game because they felt it too risky.

One poor fella had flown in from New York especially for it though, he hadn’t long landed at Heathrow on Thursday when the postponement was announced.

You’re outside and able to be socially distant so that does seem OTT doesn’t it re the LFTs.

Have you been to any games over Christmas, Ossie?

Me and Joe have given the Burnley game and tonight’s Wolves game a miss. I’ve sold our seats to people on the unofficial United forum I use though. They’ve got a good system in place on the official website for transferring tickets, it was a bit hit and miss as to whether it worked at the start of the season but tickets transfer over instantly now. I’ve obviously sold both lots at face value and have put that money separate and that’ll go towards our next season ticket renewal.

John suggested last week that I should offer the tickets to Jamie and his son over the road. I only know Jamie because I often take in parcels for him but John had been talking to him one day while me and Joe were at a match, he’d mentioned where I was and Jamie said that if we ever couldn’t go he’d gladly use our tickets as they support United.
Not sure if he was after a freebie but I knew I could sell them on and it’s £74 for both so didn’t want to miss out on that (does that make me stingy?). I don’t mind Joe using mine for Amanda or for a mate but I’m not offering them to people I hardly know for free.
