It is a problem of the modern world.

The cities suck in those hungry for success and wealth and spit them back out again into more sedate parts of the country.

I fully understand what you are going through, in one half decade Edinburgh grew 20% in population with EU immigration, but services remained flat and funding even flatter. No way of getting doctor or dentists appointments.

It took 2 decades for services and especially budgets, to catch up.

I must admit I find it hard to put myself in the position of someone who grew up in the family village. I am a child of two forces parents who met and settled in a part of the country neither was from. More than 400 miles separate. The centres of my two families and I left to join the Army at 18 then never went "home", if that is what you call it.

I cannot imagine simply suffering where I live simply because I never lived somewhere else.

I know it is not very sympathetic, but, then, my world is not constrained by artificial borders set by where I was born.

We have this problem too Os. The village High Street dates back to the time when this was a small, sleepy farming village. The main road is no wider now than it was then. So we now have a 1930's road structure supporting 2022 levels of traffic. Estates have been built either side of the High Street on what were previously fields, all disgorging the cars of the estate dwellers. It's getting quite dangerous now and the roads are about worn out, they are more patches than smooth tarmac.

Interesting point re the solar farms. I read yesterday about one planned for Suffolk where the developers were wanting compulsory purchase to be used to get the land.

Strange. We moan about fertile land being used for homes, rightly so when there are brownfield sites left to to rot, yet we say sod all when much more land is covered in solar panels to provide 'energy'. It's a 'green' thing you see. We even bloody encourage it!

Plot = lost.

It is quite possible for farmers to build solar farms and also graze animals below them. But for many farmes, I guess, if the price is right why do the work??
