And now we've really ratcheted up the sanctions.

Russia has been thrown out of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Pathetic!

Not sure that Congratulations quite fits the bill. Well perhaps from KJIL.

I'm not sure that sanctions will work. Not least because Putin has most of Europe over a barrel with its dependence on Russian gas.
But if the rest of the world turns it's back on Russia then that might work, not least in creating a movement within Russia to get rid of Putin.

Throw Russia out of the Olympics, out of the Champions league, out of the world cup, cancel any Russian ballet tours, forbid foreign players from signing for Russian football clubs, forbid Russians from buying property in any foreign country, make noises about confiscating property them may already have, every option like this should be explored.

F1 has already made a start by cancelling the Russian Grand Prix and football by moving the champions league final from Russia.

Yes, we do have to remember that once Russia fully joined the community of countries, they made themselves more vulnerable to other forms of sanction.

Also refusing travel for any Russian people, ejecting any who are already present and cancelling visas. Hence forcing Russians who benefit from free access to the rest of the world home to add their voice to the condemnation.

This type of action is building up now.
The Polish football team has said that they will not play Russia in the next world cup qualifier.
Manchester United have dropped Aeroflot as a sponsor and UEFA are trying to drop Gazprom as a sponsor.

Now Sweden are refusing to play Russia too.

Has Putin lost his marbles? What is he expecting to get out of all this? All he is going to do is to turn the world against Russia.
