I don't remember it although I was certainly out and about walking, pictures from me walking from the May.
We lived in a Caravan, I know it was difficult for my parents, certainly no coal fire in a caravan. Although knowing my father he would have had spare gas cylinders and also an insulated store for them. We also had two paraffin heaters and I know my dad had access to Paraffin in the RAF, he was stationed at Waddington at the time. You could also cook on these as they were stove type with a radiant flat top. I remember as my brother backed into one and sat on it, having just come out of the bath.
I talked to my father about it a few years ago and he told me the frost came down in November and never really left before March. He was driving 20 miles to work and back every day in an A40. Seems the roads were cleared enough.
