Stuck here for a week

Postby Suff » 01 Apr 2022, 20:49

I have learned that the UK Passport office "1 week" fast track service means they will put your passport in the post within one working week. Monday 9am appointment, Friday passport goes to the courier. My ferry was 10am tomorrow and no guarantee I'll get the damned passport tomorrow anyway.

Fortunately the holiday cottage I'm in was empty for next week. This must be a concern for the owners, this is the first week of Easter holidays and no takers. The place has had a few people in over the last 3 weeks but not much.

I've tried to change my ferry with Aferry but it keeps crapping out. Likely no joy there. New ticket in the middle of the Easter holidays. Hopefully everyone has headed for the sun on the plane.

Well it's another week not having to get up in the morning if I don't want to. I shall take that small mercy. That being said, the power goes off Monday as the power company is going to replace a power pole. Fortunate I travel with ample AC power banks and mobiles with 60GB of data.

That's a shame Suff, but take advantage of it and get some rest :)

It could be worse.

You could be stuck in the EU for months.

A Brexit dividend. Enjoy.

There are worse places than the EU. I have been there...

To be honest my Covid dividend is that I don't have to be in Canada right now. Everything else is a minor irritant in comparison.

There is a fringe benefit which is that I get to try, again, to get my eczema ointment they said they'd put through for a prescription but had not. I thought I was heading back to France to get it.

Then there are the BP tablets. We negotiated that I would take them till they actually did some investigation into why my BP is now higher than before I had my heart attack and is a massive departure from 6 months ago. Because I'm delayed I'll be 2 weeks out of them when I get back. Should apply some motivation to them.

Needless to say it arrived on Saturday but way too late to be of use to me.

I have managed to make good use of the time so that's a ++

Hope you manage to get a ferry crossing Suff - it's rather a nightmare.

But make the most of the unexpected week, relax and get your medical things sorted as much as you can whilst here - take care of yourself
