Serious HMRC phone scam

Postby Workingman » 16 May 2022, 12:46

I got a call from 01547 200104 the auto response informed me that I am to be taken to court over some financial dealings. It gave a case number and an offer to speak to an advisor.... I put the phone down.

It is a serious scam. The number is not recognised by either Who Called Me or Action Fraud. There are nearly 64,000 reports on this number so it is very active. Take care.

Thanks, Frank - always good to get a heads-up.

The one nuisance caller we keep getting at the moment is "John from the Driveway Centre".
So far I've blocked 6 landline numbers he's spoofed.

I keep getting them from Amazon Prime.
I immediately put the phone down. I do not order from Amazon and do not have an account with them

See I'd be straight in to speak to the advisor with my case number I love that sort of thing.

I pretend to be an old lady and keep chatting on about how lovely it is to speak to someone I'm so lonely
