Ed sold his house in Twickenham for £780.000 in February and whilst it was nice it was really small!

You walked in to the lounge straight from the street. Tiny kitchen. Ditto garden. (With the added sound effects and sights from Heathrow)

3 bedrooms. The main one was a decent enough size, the second one like an office and the third one in the attic was medium size but a sweat box. I know as I slept in it.

Bathroom a good size. No other loo or sink though.

Residents parking at a premium cost.

Don't get me wrong.... Twickenham is lovely but I wouldn't be paying that price.

How on earth are peeps to get on the housing ladder at these prices I don't know.

Ally, ours cost us 226k ten years ago, it's now worth over 350 probably nearer the 400k mark Ridiculous, and Gloucester is a relatively cheap area for property.

How are people getting on the ladder? The answer is that many are not, as my Chris has found. My niece Hannah and fiance Armand completed on their new semi yesterday - it's in a nice suburb of Manchester, but a perfectly normal 3-bed semi with decent garden and small conservatory. Almost 400k They both have well paid jobs now - Hannah in telly, and A is in IT - but they are mortgaged up to the eyeballs and I have a strong suspicion that my sister will have helped with the deposit.

Ed's recent place sounds just like our old semi in Egham, including the plane noise We sold in 2009 for just under the 250k stamp duty level, it sold again in 2020 for 360k, and houses in that road are well over the 400k now. Madness!

Ed's was a mid terrace house.

The prices of houses in the UK is something else!

Sometimes I watch Homes under the Hammer and am amazed when, after a few renovations, it suddenly shoots up in value by a ridiculous amount!

I'm not knocking the UK btw....I just feel sorry for youngsters trying to get their feet on the ladder. X

This is our friend's Toni and Pete's place. It's in Arboleas which is the Murcia region.

Don't know if you remember....they used to have a holiday place in Riviera del Sol and we used to visit them every summer.
They always said one day they'd make the move and they did four years ago.

They've settled in really well. Toni was a SW consultant and has carried on her business over here very successfully.
Pierce completed his education doing the Bachillerato and is now working.

We went to visit them at this house two years ago (out different Province out) post pandemic.

They're downsizing.
