Houses for sale

That looks like it’s been let out Kaz?

There’s this one that’s just sold on our estate, it came up for sale a week or two ago and was initially up at £440,000. I’d said to John when we walked past one night that I didn’t think the people had lived there for long and when I checked online it last sold in Dec 2020 for £330,000
They’re actually quite small houses too, there’s some estate agent photo trickery making it less narrow going back than it is. A lot in that style have had ground floor extensions.

Not sure but Tom and Shannon may be moving here. They viewed it on Tuesday and Tom came home last night and said that Shannon had been sent some paperwork about it and the house was showing as let agreed but she’d gone out and hadn’t sent it to him so he wasn’t sure what was going on.

If they’ve got it, I’ve got a few misgivings about it. Leek’s nice but it can be quite isolated in Winter with it being in the Moorlands as they get a fair bit of snow, Shannon will be fine for work because she can work from home if needs be but Tom can hardly do that and the house is at the end of a narrow track which cuts them off even more. It’s the town where she wants to live though, it’s the sort of place where you stick ‘artisan’ on a shopfront and you’re onto a winner. It’ll cut her commute down considerably but add an hour a day onto Tom’s.

Nice house, garden and location Jo, but £750 a month? Is that the going rate for that type of house?

I think it is Crommers. That’s something else that irks me.
They’ve saved a deposit so could easily buy. A bit further south of the Moorlands (and bang in the middle of both of their workplaces) and they could get a new build detached in their budget but Shannon doesn’t want to live there plus she doesn’t want to buy because she’s unsure how long she’ll stay in her National Trust job near Manchester because there’s not much chance of promotion and doesn’t want to have to sell in a couple of years.
They could’ve bought by now and locked themselves into a low mortgage rate, and be paying less than they’re paying in rent.

I can’t stop thinking that by renting they’ll be paying £9000 off someone else’s mortgage each year rather than paying it off their own.

Their decision.

My Chris pays well over £800pcm for his tiny flat. Rents are surprisingly high here too, considering our house prices are below national average. Probably as rental is in high demand, houses like ours go for around £1500pcm.

Jo I think that one near us was a rental, lots on here are.

This one has been sold ish. Promissory contract signed.

Are they coming back to the UK? Lovely house, like the pool - they won't get a house with a pool here for 500k ;)
