Beginning of the end for Johnson?

There is nobody alive who can unite this country at the moment.

I think it's likely to be somebody like Sunak. The mistake the Conservatives will probably make is to think that someone who is popular inside the Westminster bubble will be popular outside it.
Suella Braverman might have the guts and the brains for the job but internal stitch ups will mean that she probably won't get it. The parliamentary party will probably present the ordinary Conservative members with a choice of two, neither of which they actually like!

Sunak is being cast as a betrayer, won't get the votes. Javid will go the same way. Wallace has thrown his towel in before it has begun, someone hit him with the clue stick that this is a 2.5 year stint and then the boonies.

Whoever gets it will be either someone who wants to be PM more than a long term leader of the Tory party or someone who is clueless about the real situation.

Who would you want?

Everyone has been so focused on "get Johnson out", that they have not realised that this government is in for another 2.5 years and, yes, things could be a LOT WORSE.

I haven't stopped laughing yet.

With the hastily cobbled together cabinet of no-marks following all the resignations the next Con PM could be in for a very short stint indeed.

If there is inertia in government or no policies are being implemented then Labour the LibDems and SNP have already stated that they will club together and fire off no confidence votes in the government; and there is no limit to how many or when they can be tabled.

I would rather see another clown in charge for this short stint, a Shapps or a Grayling, and then go for a One Nation Tory for the longer term, someone like Tugendhat, Ellwood or even Braverman. If not then the Cons will lose my vote for another term.

I'm not surprised; I see Shapps is now standing. What a clown!

With a bear 80 seat majority and the party in crisis, any Tory MP who votes no confidence will be excited with extreme sanction.

Leaving the rest of them to call as many no confidence votes as they like.

I saw that too Os.
Crikey, has the man no self knowledge? He should be flogging timeshares or something, not sitting as a government minister.

Sunak is the early leader but I don't think he'll win.
He registered his ready for Rishi domain name last December! Plus he's come out with a very slick video which his people want you to believe was done in one day. I think not!
Disloyalty may actually commend him to some in the HoC but the ordinary Conservative members who have the final word
will take a very dim view of it.
