Does opening all your windows and doors actually help to reduce the temperature in your house, or is closing your blinds and curtains sufficient? Or both?

I find it depends. We’ve had windows open all night but I closed them when we got up before it warmed up too much outside and I’ve kept the blinds closed. We’re all shut up now and have a fan running and it’s okay.
A few weeks ago I found that opening the windows during the day did no good whatsoever as the air was so still but yesterday there was a breeze so I opened them in the afternoon and the breeze blew through and it was quite pleasant.
