Delivery scam WARNING!

I just got home to two red cards titled: COURIER - no name. Delivered by Royal Mail.

They told me that they were unable to deliver the parcels due to an underpayment by the sender. To get the parcels I had to go to PayPal and pay the shortage.

I have not ordered anything online for ages and I do not know of anyone sending me parcels, so I was intrigued.

I went to PayPal and the account number on the cards exists but I cannot find the company anywhere and with that I backed out.

It would have cost £13 (£6.50 per parcel) so not a lot, but then the (Courier) company would have my account details.

I wonder how many people will fall for this thinking that they had forgotten an order.

I have reported it to PP and Action Fraud. Thought you should all be aware.

I do all this searching in a way that makes me invisible and secure. Sometimes just visiting a site opens you up to malware. Just DON'T.

Been round ages WM it's usually for a letter and need a few £0 and want your card bank details just ignore it but thanks for saying

totally agree.... I even messaged my old boss yesterday because I received an email from him but I was suspicious because the way the subject heading was written just wasn't the way he'd usually write; so I asked him. Turns out it was from him and a legitimate email but always safer to ask than to be scammed. Also worth noting to always check site endings / email addresses to make sure they look legit

Far too many of these scams around. D seems to attract a fair few, but luckily she always checks with Mick first.

Yes you have to be care full loads on fb and junk mail I never buy from China either via ebay

Saundra, thankfully you are wise. Many are not.

They got my name and address right even though I am not on the open electoral register, but that is easy. There are lists out there for sale, they have been compiled down the years and are fairly accurate. And Ria is so right about checking email addresses - if dodgy just delete or find an alternative communication. Send it to spam as unread.

The PP address and site on the card looked real, but it might not have been the real thing. These things are easy to spoof. Didn't really check as I already knew it was a scam.

Kaz, D is lucky to have you and Mick, most others do not have that sort of support, hence the success of these scammers and the warning.

I had an email saying I had to pay £1,67 to have a parcel delivered. I just deleted it.

I have had one parcel delievered as I had ordered some goods from a company.

I am waiting for another parcel to be delivered. Have got a tracking number so can follow its progress from the supplier.

I am very careful with these funny emails and delete them.
